Aquiline Capital Partners, a New York-based private equity firm investing in financial services founded by Jeffrey Greenberg, the former chief executive of giant insurance broker Marsh & McLennan, has recruited Deborah L. Bernstein and Jason A. Rotman as investment professionals.

‘We have known both Deborah and Jason for some time and are familiar with their work,’ says Greenberg, the firm’s chief executive. ‘They each bring important strengths that will deepen Aquiline’s capabilities.’

Bernstein comes from Pequot Ventures, the former direct venture investment arm of Pequot Capital Management, where she was a general partner who co-led the firm’s investments in financial services technology. She began her career at Goldman Sachs in the financial institutions group and later worked in the principal investments area.

Rotman joins Aquiline from Swiss Reinsurance Company where he held a variety of roles within private equity, corporate development, and the insurance linked securities business, ultimately becoming head of alternative investments for the US.

He was previously head of mergers and acquisitions for a NYSE-listed financial services company, where he led projects within the life and health insurance, retirement savings, and asset management sectors. He began his career in the financial institutions group at Smith Barney.

Aquiline invests in financial services sectors such as property and casualty insurance, specialty finance, securities, asset management, life insurance and transaction processing.
