Eversheds’ Richard Moulton named head of private equity

Law firm Eversheds has appointed partner Richard Moulton as head of private equity.

Moulton will have responsibility for leading the firm’s private equity group, overseeing a team working with clients on investments to exits.

Moulton has over 15 years’ experience in the private equity sector, and has been at Eversheds since 2003.

Moulton works with clients such as ECI Partners, Inflexion, CBPE Capital, Gresham and Baird Capital Partners Europe.

Moulton takes over the role from private equity partner Mark Spinner, who has led the group for eight years. Whilst Spinner will continue to be actively involved in the private equity group, he has stepped down from the position as head of the group to focus his non client facing time and his leadership responsibilities as head of the wider corporate practice group.

Moulton says: “I am delighted to take on this role and I plan to further build on Eversheds’ reputation as a leading mid-market private equity practice, both in the UK and internationally. The private equity market is picking up, industry wide there have been more deals to date in 2010 than in the whole of 2009 and we are seeing this increased confidence with an extremely active client base.”

Spinner adds: “I am pleased to be able to hand over management responsibility for our private equity practice to Richard. Since joining the firm in May 2003, Richard has been instrumental to the growth of the private equity practice area having advised on more than 50 transactions, from complex exit strategies to high value buyouts. I have no doubt that Richard will continue to drive the team and international growth, which will further enhance the ever-growing corporate capability of Eversheds.”
