Glatfelter, a supplier of specialty papers and engineered materials, has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Georgia-Pacific’s European nonwovens business (the “Business”) for USD185 million, subject to customary purchase price adjustments. The proposed transaction includes Georgia-Pacific’s operations located in Steinfurt, Germany, along with sales offices located in France and Italy. The Steinfurt facility produces high-quality airlaid products for the table-top, wipes, hygiene, food pad, and other nonwoven materials markets, competing in the marketplace with nonwoven technologies and substrates, as well as other materials focused primarily on consumer based end-use applications. The Steinfurt facility is a state-of-the-art, 32,000-metric-ton-capacity manufacturing facility that employs

A Hull healthtech start-up which has developed an award-winning device to enhance mental wellbeing has secured a GBP200,000 investment from NPIF-Mercia Equity Finance, which is managed by Mercia Fund Managers and is part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund. Moodbeam’s wearable device allows users to log their mood and monitor their emotional wellbeing – or that of their children, students, patients or employees. Private capital has been vital in working alongside governments and other investors to help close the Africa’s infrastructure gap, according to the third edition of the African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association’s (AVCA) Sector Snapshot: Infrastructure. Funds advised by private equity firm Apax Partners have received a binding offer and have entered into exclusive discussions to sell Azelis to the EQT VIII fund and PSP Investments. The transaction, which is subject to regulatory approvals, and other conditions including consultation with employee representatives, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2018. Assetz Capital’s first ever rate rise saw investors add around GBP10 million to their Access Accounts in the first month. The peer-to-peer business lender moved target interest rates for the Quick Access Account and 30-Day Access Account from 3.75 per cent to 4.10 per cent and from 4.25 per cent to 5.10 per cent respectively. Platinum Equity is to sell Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) to affiliates of Cerberus Capital Management, in a transaction valued at approximately EUR1.2 billion. Middle-market investment bank Harris Williams & Co has acted as exclusive advisor to Visma Sverige Holding AB (Visma) on its divestment of market-leading mass hosting providers Loopia and Active 24 to Axcel Management A/S (Axcel). The transaction was led by Thierry Monjauze and Sylvain Noblet of Harris Williams & Co’s Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) Group and Krishna Patel of the firm’s London office.   Loopia and Active 24 offer web domains, shared web hosting and value-added services such as security, e-commerce and Microsoft Office 365.
