Luge Capital, a new venture capital fund specifically focused on early-stage FinTech companies and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions applied to financial services, has completed a CAD75 million round of financing to begin operations. Initially, CAD50 million of the raised capital was announced in October 2017 by the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Desjardins Group, two of the fund’s major investors. Sun Life Financial, the Fonds de Solidarité FTQ and La Capitale are also significant participants. The Cyberfort Group, which is backed by Palatine Private Equity, has acquired cyber security consultancy Agenci for an undisclosed sum. The transaction adds a third business to the Cyberfort Group, with Agenci joining ultra-secure hosting and managed services provider The Bunker, and cyber security testing business Arcturus.   Agenci is a consultancy that specialises in IT security, particularly ISO 27001 and GDPR. Rizing, a privately held backed by private equity firm One Equity Partners, has acquired Aasonn, an SAP SuccessFactors Professional Services Firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.  Aasonn joins /N SPRO, a leading SAP Human Capital Management (HCM), SAP SuccessFactors and SAP Retail services firm under the Rizing HCM business portfolio.    Mike Maiolo, CEO of Rizing says: “The acquisition of Aasonn begins our journey on an aggressive growth strategy both organically and through acquisitions with our new investment partner, One Equity Partners. The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group, have agreed a partnership to support the future growth of RIBA Enterprises Ltd, the commercial arm of the RIBA which trades as NBS. Funds managed by Equistone Partners Europe (Equistone) have agreed to sell a majority stake in Karl Eugen Fischer, a manufacturer of cord-cutting machines for the tyre industry. Equistone acquired Karl Eugen Fischer in August 2013 and is now selling its stake to DBAG Fund VII, managed by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG. Management will retain a shareholding in the company. Cappitech, a provider of automated regulatory reporting technology for the financial services industry, has secured USD4 million in series A financing. Lawyers from Carey Olsen in Guernsey and Jersey have advised Silverfleet Capital on the sale of Ipes, a leading provider of fund administration and other outsourced services in the private equity sector, to Apex Group. Silverfleet Capital, a pan-European private equity firm, has owned Ipes since acquiring it from RJD Partners in 2013. Since then, Ipes has achieved strong organic growth and has strengthened its pan-European footprint by more than doubling both number of clients and staff.
