Independently owned family office Stonehage Fleming has held the final close of the Stonehage Fleming Global Private Capital Fund 2016.
In conjunction with a number of new separate accounts, this takes the total the firm has raised for investment in private capital funds over the last 18 months to USD166 million.
The 2016 Fund is the first of a series of annual funds for the international family office’s new private capital programme. Each annual fund will invest in five to seven best-in-class managers which will provide underlying exposure to between 50 and 100 high quality portfolio companies.
The
ORIX Corporation has acquired a controlling interest in RB Capital Empreendimentos, a Brazilian capital markets and asset management platform.
The acquisition leverages ORIX’s strategy to expand its growing capital solutions and asset management business in Latin America.

D E Shaw Renewable Investments has acquired the Mississippi Solar 2 project from Origis DevCo.
The project is a 52 MWAC solar power facility located three miles away from Sumrall in Lamar County, Mississippi.
Promptly following the acquisition, DESRI started construction of the project, which it expects to be completed in Q2 2017.

Palatine-backed EPI Group has acquired PDF Limited, an oil and gas geoscience consultancy, allowing the business to broaden its scope for supporting clients’ exploration and development programmes.
Established in 1987, Surrey-based EPI provides exploration services to the oil and gas industry, with offices in the US, Australia, Russia, France, Ghana and South America. Its services include land and marine seismic surveys, data processing, environment projects and wellsite operations.
Oxfordshire-based PDF provides exploration and production advisory services, as well as acting as the outsourced exploration department for a wide range of international clients.
The acquisition will bring a new
Harris Williams & Co has acted as adviser to private equity firm Stirling Square Capital Partners on the pending sale of its portfolio company ESE World to RPC Group.
ESE is a European provider of temporary waste storage solutions.
The pending transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2017 and is being led by Jeffery Perkins, Lars Friemann, Florian Ripperger and Konstantin Molinari of Harris Williams & Co’s Frankfurt office, as well as Patrick McNulty and Brad Morrison of the firm’s industrials group.

Japanese denim brand EVISU has agreed a buy-back deal for its retailing and franchising rights in China.
Parent company EVISU Group Limited is reinvesting, alongside private equity fund Cassia Investment, to buy back New Elegant Trading’s interest in their China joint venture, which is financially supported by IDG Capital.
The acquisition consideration is USD40 million. David Pun, chairman and CEO of EVISU Group Limited, will remain the majority shareholder.

Decision Tech, a performance marketing and data company that owns and operates broadbandchoices.co.uk, has acquired comparemymobile.com for an undisclosed sum.
The move comes just three months after Decision Tech completed the acquisition of sellmymobile.com, and strengthens the group’s presence in the mobile handset recycling market.
The comparemymobile.com acquisition makes Decision Tech the UK’s most used price comparison service for consumers and businesses trading in mobiles and other gadgets. Decision Tech will use this latest acquisition to develop its proposition in two key areas.
First, it will expand the suite of data insight products and services already offered by
European technology has come of age in 2016, with the total M&A deal value more than doubling in the last 12 months to USD127.2 billion, according to M&A advisory firm Magister Advisors.
This was driven by the blockbuster acquisitions of ARM, Supercell and NXP.

According to the review, the
Burford Capital is to acquire GKC Holdings, the parent of Chicago-based Gerchen Keller Capital, for USD160 million in a combination of cash, Burford shares and loan notes and a further potential USD15 million in performance-based share consideration.
The acquisition will be immediately accretive to earnings per share.
GKC is a law-focused investment manager, registered as an investment adviser with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. It currently has USD1.3 billion in assets under management in private investment vehicles, raised from public pensions, financial institutions, university endowments, foundations and family offices.
Burford and GKC are the two largest litigation
German hotel group Meinninger Hotels and private equity firm VIYM have signed a management agreement which will see Meinninger open its first hotel-hostel hybrid in Russia, as part of VIYM’s Nikolskiye Ryady development in Saint Petersburg.
The overall cost of the Nikolskiye Ryady project, including both hotel properties – the Meinninger Hotel and Holiday Inn Express – is expected to be around USD50 million.
The hotel-hostel hybrid will have 158 rooms, with a total area of 7,300 sq m. The operator is already participating in the drafting of construction blueprints, to ensure that the new property is built in
