toucanBox, a subscription-based children’s arts and crafts delivery service, has secured a GBP2.7 million investment from BGF Ventures, as part of a GBP3.2 million funding round, to accelerate its UK and international growth and introduce new products.
This is the company’s first institutional investment following previous rounds of angel and seed funding.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and The Vietnamese State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a Russian-Vietnamese investment platform. RDIF and SCIC will identify attractive investment projects in bilateral trade, which are in line with Russian-Vietnamese strategic interests.
Under the agreement, RDIF and SCIC will each invest USD250 million in the platform. The funds will be directed towards projects that promote bilateral trade and foreign direct investment flows between the two countries, as well as business activities of Vietnamese corporations in Russia.

Preliminary figures released by SL Capital in the Q1 2016 Private Equity Barometer, published by unquote”, show that overall the year to Q1 2016 witnessed a shift towards larger deals, with total deal value increasing by 28.2 per cent, while volume slipped by 15.9 per cent.
As a result, average deal value increased by 52.4 per cent
The number of European private-equity-backed deals declined by 11.7 per cent in the first quarter of 2016, from the 394 transactions seen in the previous three months to 348 transactions. Combined deal value also declined, slipping by 54.2 per cent.

Beacon Rail Leasing (Beacon), a leading Pan-European rolling stock leasing company, is to acquire Ascendos Rail Leasing (Ascendos), a European locomotive and rolling stock leasing company.
The completion of the transaction is subject to customary conditions, including clearance with the German competition authorities. The transaction is expected to be completed during the second quarter of 2016.

Private equity firm LCatterton has sold its remaining stake in Nature’s Variety to Agrolimen, joint venture partner for the investment. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
LCatterton invested in Nature’s Variety in 2008; and Agrolimen became a JV partner in 2014. Working together alongside Nature’s Variety Chief Executive Officer Reed Howlett, L Catterton and Agrolimen have developed a comprehensive brand positioning and go-to-market strategy for the brand.

Private equity firm Thoma Bravo has sold Vision Solutions, a provider of high availability, disaster recovery, and migration software and services, to Clearlake Capital Group.
The exit represents the culmination of a successful 10-year partnership between Thoma Bravo and Vision Solutions. The transaction is expected to close in Q2, subject to normal closing conditions and approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
