Vertos Medical, a specialist in treatments for lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS), has closed a financing of almost USD23m.
The proceeds will be used to fund US commercial expansion and the launch of mild in European markets.
The financing was led by Pitango Venture Capital and joined by existing investors including ONSET Ventures, CHL Medical Partners, Foundation Medical Partners, Mercury Fund and Aweida Venture Partners.

Personetics, a provider of predictive customer engagement solutions for the banking industry, has completed its series B funding of USD11.5m, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with existing investors Sequoia Capital and Carmel Ventures.
This investment will be used to drive sales and scale operations to meet the growing demand for predictive solutions that transform the digital experience for banking customers.
Following the series B funding, Yoni Cheifetz (pictured), partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, will join the Personetics board.

International law firm Taylor Wessing has advised Rutland Partners on the simultaneous acquisitions of AFI-Uplift in the UK, Access Rental Gulf in the Middle East and Hi-Reach in the UK for a combined enterprise value of circa GBP85m.

A consortium of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Titan International and One Equity Partners (OEP) has reached an agreement in principle with Cordiant to invest in Voltyre-Prom, a Russian agricultural and industrial tyre manufacturer.
The transaction is expected to be finalised in the near future.
As result of the investment the consortium will own a controlling stake in Voltyre-Prom, with Titan International becoming its managing partner. The consortium’s investment will allow Voltyre-Prom to update its operations, grow its production of specialty tires for international agricultural machinery, reduce imports by shifting production to Russia and begin to explore
The Abraaj Group is to acquire a 100 per cent stake in Fan Milk International (FMI), a West African manufacturer and distributor of frozen dairy products and juices.
Established over 50 years ago, FMI currently operates through subsidiaries in the rapidly growing markets of Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Ivory Coast, Benin and Burkina Faso. The company has built and controls a unique and fully integrated regional manufacturing and distribution cold chain network, as well as a broad portfolio of convenience food and beverage brands that reaches over 31,000 end-sales points. Optimum Energy has completed a USD12.2m financing round, led by new investor Navitas Capital (backed by a venture capital advisory relationship with Johnson Controls) and including existing investor Columbia Pacific Advisors.
The financing round will accelerate Optimum Energy’s strategic focus on augmenting its next-generation energy optimisation solution.

Maven Capital Partners has led an investment in HCS Control Systems via a buy-in management buy-out transaction (BIMBO) alongside the Simmons Parallel Energy Fund.
Maven and Simmons have each provided GBP4.25m of equity funding to support business growth, with additional investment from Front Row Energy Partners, a consortium of upstream industry specialists which invests in high quality energy service companies.

Infinity Racing Partners has acquired a 35 per cent minority stake in Lotus F1 Team effective immediately.
The acquisition marks another milestone for Lotus F1 Team in its quest to become the leading outfit in Formula 1 racing. The team finished fifth in the 2011 Constructors’ Championship and fourth in 2012.
Infinity Racing is an investment consortium whose special purpose vehicle is comprised of private investors that include an American hedge fund manager, an Abu Dhabi-based multinational business group and royal family interests of a major oil producing nation.
Lotus F1 Team was previously 100 per cent owned
Farallon Capital Management’s investment funds have acquired 101,589,656 shares in Whitehaven Coal from entities associated with Nathan Tinkler (Aston Resources Investments and Boardwalk Resources Investments).
These shares represent approximately 9.91 per cent of the issued shares in Whitehaven.
The Farallon Funds have also agreed to purchase an additional 16,672,031 Whitehaven shares (approximately 1.63 per cent of the issued shares in Whitehaven) from ASM Equities Fund, subject to obtaining FIRB approval. The Farallon Funds also continue to hold a further 52,153,034 Whitehaven shares (approximately 5.09 per cent of the issued shares in Whitehaven).

Triogen Group, a supplier of waste heat recovery solutions, has closed a EUR6.5m financing round.
Wadinko NV joined as a new investor and led the round. Existing investors Yellow&Blue, Intervest and management also participated in the round.
The new funding builds on strong results to date and will be used to further accelerate growth within the EU and internationally, as well as to strengthen ties with strategic partners. Over the past years Triogen has expanded its reseller network and installed base to ten countries, proving commercial validation and operational robustness in a broad range of markets, regulatory environments
