AXA Private Equity has acquired a stake of 82.4% in Novotema Group, one of Europe’s leading rubber component manufacturers, from 3i. Novotema’s management team also invested, acquiring the remaining 17.6% of the business.
Novotema is headquartered in Villongo, situated 60 km northeast of Milan. The company designs and produces rubber components for applications in the automotive, medical, gas control and industrial sectors.

Apex Fund Services has opened its second US office in Miami, Florida. Apex has grown by 185% since 2009.
Apex’s US operations are currently managed from its office in New Jersey which is run by Managing Director Vince Sarullo. He will also have overall responsibility for the growth of the Miami office and will be joined by Thalius Hecksher, Global Head of Business Development, who will spearhead Apex’s Latin American and US marketing activity.
The US offers extensive growth opportunities for Apex with approximately 75% of the world’s alternative funds – equivalent to over 4,500 funds.

Private equity firm ClearLight Partners has acquired a significant ownership interest in Consumer Safety Technology, LLC, manufacturer of the state-of-the-art Intoxalock breath alcohol monitoring devices.
Commonly used by DUI offenders in order to retain driving privileges, Consumer Safety Technology’s core ignition interlock products prevent an engine from starting when alcohol is present on the driver’s breath. CST will use the investment from ClearLight to fund a range of attractive growth initiatives. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Capvis is the new owner of Hess Natur-Textilien GmbH, effective 25 June 2012.
Primondo Specialty Group and Capvis signed and notarised the contract on 31 May 2012, pending competition clearance. The relevant German and Austrian competition authorities have now approved the transaction.
The contract has automatically come into force and Capvis is the sole legal and commercial owner of Hess Natur-Textilien GmbH.

Groupe SVP, a services company for businesses and local authorities, has acquired FYM Conseil, a vocational training company founded in 1976 and based in Lorient, western France.
The acquisition is Groupe SVP’s fourth since 2005 and represents a new milestone in its build-up strategy. It was completed with the support of Omnes Capital (formerly Crédit Agricole Private Equity), which first acquired a stake in Groupe SVP as part of a majority LBO in 2011.

LumeJet, the Coventry-based technology developer, has just raised GBP1.87 million in a major funding round. The new investment will be used to develop and commercialise LumeJet’s ultra-high quality imaging technology and brings the total investment in the company to more than GBP4.5m.

Raptor Consumer Partners (RCP), a leading consumer-focused growth equity firm, has partnered with Boston-based food company Unreal Brands, Inc) to help launch a line of “unjunked” chocolate candies in over 30,000 US stores, beginning this summer.
RCP is Unreal’s lead investor, along with Michael Bronner, the Company’s co-founder. The terms of RCP’s investment in the Company were not disclosed. RCP also announced that John Burns, Managing Director at Raptor Consumer Partners, has joined Unreal’s Board of Directors.

European private equity firm Cinven has reached agreement to acquire a majority stake in Pronet Güvenlik (Pronet), a provider of security electronic alarm systems in Turkey.
Pronet has been acquired from its institutional shareholders including Turkish Private Equity Fund I LP, advised by Turk Ventures Advisory Limited (Turkven), and Dutch Development Bank (FMO). The transaction is subject to regulatory clearances and it is expected to close during summer.

Bain Capital is to acquire a 50 per cent stake in Jupiter Shop Channel Co, Ltd, Japan’s leading TV shopping company, from Sumitomo Corporation.
