Advent France Biotechnology (AFB), an AMF-regulated investment company dedicated to life sciences, has held the first closing of its second fund at EUR86 million (USD102 million).  The European Investment Fund (EIF) and the Fonds national d’amorçage 2 (the French Seed Fund 2) managed on behalf of the French State by Bpifrance, participated in the fund, along with corporate ventures including Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund, Pierre Fabre and a major Asian pharmaceutical company, family offices and AFB’s management. After delivering more than 100,000 shipments in Germany, constructiontech startup Schüttflix has raised USD50 million of additional capital and is preparing to enter the Austrian, Polish and Czech markets in 2022.  The recently completed Series A financing round was led by European venture capital investor Draper Esprit. Also boosting their investments in this round are the founding team surrounding co-founding investor Thomas Hagedorn and CEO Christian Hülsewig, as well as HV Capital, Speedinvest and STRABAG.  Christoph Hornung, Investment Director, Draper Esprit says: “Over 2.5 million tonnes of construction bulk-materials delivered since its founding shows that Schüttflix works. O’Melveny has advised DL Chemical Co, a subsidiary of DL Holdings Co (formerly Daelim Industrial Co), on its merger agreement to acquire 100 per cent of Kraton Corporation (NYSE: KRA), a global sustainable producer of specialty polymers and high-value bio-based products, in an all-cash transaction with an equity value of approximately USD1.6 billion.  The company’s enterprise value was USD2.5 billion. The agreement was announced on 27 September, 2021 and is subject to certain customary closing conditions, including the receipt of stockholder and regulatory approvals. Moda Furnishings (Moda), a Manchester-based outdoor furniture retailer, acquired in September 2019 in an MBO led by CEO Jonny Brierley and COO Vallan McCarthy, backed by the Manchester office of mid-market private equity investor Endless, has agreed a new GBP17 million funding deal. Moda has had another strong year of growth with revenues set to exceed GBP35 million in the year to the end of October, from GBP24.5 million in 2020 and GBP15.3 milllion in 2019. Mirova, an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers dedicated to sustainable investing, has launched the Mirova Environment Acceleration Capital fund.   Mirova is pursuing its approach as a responsible impact investor through the new pan-European private equity fund, which aims to invest in companies providing sustainable innovative solutions and technologies contributing to the environmental transition. Inflexion has made a majority investment in Detectortesters, a global manufacturer of fire detector testing equipment. The investment is being made by Inflexion Buyout Fund V. Founded in 1965, Detectortesters designs and produces solutions that enable testing of smoke, heat and carbon monoxide fire detectors. With a worldwide customer base, consisting mainly of field service engineers, the business exports its products to over 130 countries, deriving over 80 per cent of its revenues outside the UK. The company conducts all new product development in-house, working with all of the major fire detector OEMs, fostering efficiency as well as proprietary innovation. 
Biotechnology company Expansion Therapeutics has closed an USD80 million Series B financing led by Cormorant Asset Management with participation from new investors Westlake Village BioPartners, Surveyor Capital (a Citadel company) and Logos Capital as well as Series A investors RA Capital Management, 5AM Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, Sanofi Ventures and Novartis Venture Fund.  Proceeds from the financing will be used to advance the company’s small molecule RNA platform (SMiRNA) to identify clinical candidates in myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and various tauopathies. “Drugging RNA with small molecules has the potential to dramatically transform the
