OP Finnfund Global Impact Fund I, the first global emerging markets impact fund in Finland, has invested USD5 million in EthioChicken, an Ethiopian poultry company. The aim is to generate good jobs, improve food security and reduce poverty in Ethiopia. Established in 2010, EthioChicken has become a forerunner and one of the largest poultry companies in East Africa. EthioChicken currently operates eight poultry farms and four hatcheries, which produce and supply young chicken for households in rural Ethiopia. An affiliate of One Rock Capital Partners (One Rock) has successfully completed the previously announced acquisition of a manufacturing site in Kankakee, Illinois, and the associated businesses of vegetable-oil-based raw material sterols and natural vitamin E, anionic surfactants and esters produced there, from BASF. Headquartered outside of Chicago, the newly independent company has approximately 190 employees and will operate under the name Kensing. Kester Capital, a primary buyout specialist, has sold Frontier Medical Group to funds advised by Agilitas Private Equity, netting 3.4x and a 30 per cent IRR for its investors.  This is the fourth exit from Kester’s last fund to have achieved a return of over 3.0x. This fund, which closed in 2013, now only holds two remaining assets. eStoreMedia, a digital shelf software for Fortune 500 brands has raised USD30 million in its first fundraise through investment by Kennet Partners and Digital+ Partners.  The firm, which already counts many of the Fortune 500 brands as its clients, will use the investment to accelerate eStoreMedia’s digital shelf automation suite for brands, as well as for expansion into new markets.   This is the first external investment in the company and both investors have significant experience in building SaaS and B2B focused businesses as they look to accelerate their growth. Propel Insurance (Propel), a privately-owned insurance agency and a portfolio company of Flexpoint Ford (Flexpoint), has acquired South Carolina-based South Risk Management (SRM), a construction-focused insurance consulting firm. The acquisition of SRM expands Propel’s presence into South Carolina and adds to the Company’s existing Southeast footprint, which includes Knoxville, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Orlando.
