Heritas Capital (Heritas) has held the first close of its third private equity fund, Heritas Growth Fund III (Fund III), at USD60 million.  The first close follows Heritas Capital’s announcement early this year of its plan to launch a USD150 million Fund III as a Pan-Asia Impact Fund focusing on high impact sectors within Healthcare, Education and Technology for building back better post-Covid-19. Eurazeo is to sell its stake in integrated payments leader, Planet. As part of the transaction Eurazeo will reinvest and co-control the Company with Advent International (Advent). Under this agreement, Planet is valued at EUR1.8 billion. Nexif Energy, an Australian and South East Asian power company, backed by Denham Capital has formed a 50:50 partnership with RATCH Group for construction and operation of its Nexif Energy Ben Tre wind power generation project (NEBT) in Vietnam.  This is the second project Nexif Energy is undertaking with RATCH Group after forging a successful partnership last year on the Rayong Co-Generation project in Thailand. The 80 MW near-shore wind power generation project is located in Thanh Hai commune, Thanh Phu district of Ben Tre Province, about 160 km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Clir Renewables (Clir), a company dedicated to maximising project returns from renewable energy assets, has closed its CAD27 million Series B funding round, which was co-led by Longbow Capital Inc and ArcTern Ventures, and included Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), BDC Capital, Active Impact Investments and Tokio Marine HCC.   Since the business was founded in 2017, Clir has provided critical technology to support owners of renewable energy assets in 11 countries via its AI-driven monitoring and optimisation platform. CAPZA – an independent management company and leading player in private investments in European SMEs – has acquired a minority stake in WSHOP, a publisher of a Digital Unified Commerce Solution (e-commerce platform with omnichannel capabilities). Caledonia Investments’ (Caledonia) portfolio company Deep Sea Electronics (DSE), a provider of backup power control systems, has been acquired by Generac Holdings (Generac).  Generac is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (GNRC) and is a leading global designer and manufacturer of energy technology solutions and other power products.   DSE was acquired by Caledonia in October 2018 and has grown strongly since then. Adenia Partners, a private equity firm investing in Africa, has completed the acquisition of Africa Biosystems Limited (ABL), a distributor of life sciences and clinical diagnostics equipment in East Africa. A survey of returns conducted by Tesi shows that the Finnish venture capital and private equity market is performing well at present.  Returns from Growth and Buyout funds have stabilised at a good level, and investment value is being realised at a steady rate.
