Novalis Biotech, an early stage venture capital investor in healthcare, technologies has held the first closing of its second fund, Novalis Biotech Acceleration, raising an initial EUR8 million.
With commitments for a similar amount already in place, Novalis anticipates a final closing in early 2021. The majority of investors in Novalis’ first fund have co-invested in this first closing.

NextStage AM, a specialist in growth equity in France, has held the first closing of its Relance-labelled NextStage Championnes III (Championnes III) fund, which will provide equity financing to innovative French SMEs established (particularly digital, environmental innovation, smart health).
At present, the fund’s programme already has an investment capacity of EUR60 million.
With Championnes III, NextStage AM rounds out its growth equity investment program for institutional investors, UHWN and family offices. Ross Trustees, an independent professional trustee and pensions support services business, has secured investment from LDC, a mid-market private equity investor.
The investment provides a financial platform for the company’s future growth. Financial details of the investment are undisclosed.
Ross Trustees was founded in 2010 by Steven Ross and provides professional trustee and pensions support services, as well as pensions manager and secretariat services through its Ross Corporate Services division.

CBPE Capital LLP (CBPE) has held the final close of its latest fund, CBPE Capital Fund X at its hard cap of GBP561 million, surpassing its target of GBP525 million.
The Fund is the successor to CBPE Capital IX, which closed in August 2016 with capital commitments of GBP459 million, and will be CBPE’s third fund as an independent GP having completed a buyout from Close Brothers Group in 2008.

CVC Credit Partners (CVC Credit) has provided a GBP37.5 million first lien credit facility to Nurse Plus, a healthcare services business backed by Sovereign Capital Partners. The new funding has been fully underwritten by CVC Credit and will be used to refinance the company’s existing debt facility and to support the business’s ongoing growth strategy.

Think Bigger Capital, Demium’s Asset Management Company, has launched its first fund (TBF I) with a target size of EUR30 million. The fund, which will focus on investing in technology and innovation companies in Europe, invests at least EUR100k of pre-seed funding for an equity stake in each company that completes the Demium incubation programme and is selected by the investment committee. The asset manager’s selection criteria are independent of those of Demium Startups.
Selected companies will receive mentoring and assistance with their project to best prepare them to qualify for pre-seed investment with Demium’s asset management company.

Pathway Capital Management has closed on a USD150 million custom secondaries fund for a US-based institutional investor. The fund will focus on making secondary investments in a wide variety of private equity strategies.

The Carlyle Group’s Global Credit platform has provided USD95 million in transitional growth capital for Wake Forest, North Carolina-based Zippy Shell, one of the largest containerized moving and storage companies in the United States. The financing package includes a USD75 million second lien term loan and USD20 million in preferred equity. Zippy Shell plans to use the funds for growth initiatives and strategic acquisitions.
