ARQIS has advised Kyocera on the acquisition of the advanced ceramics business operations of Friatec, a manufacturer and seller of ceramic and plastic components based in Mannheim, Germany, through a newly established subsidiary Kyocera Ceramic Solutions (Esslingen).  The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to close in autumn 2019.   Since its founding in 1959, Kyocera has provided advanced ceramic components for a wide range of markets, including industrial machinery, information devices, medical devices, and environmental preservation / renewable energy equipment. One Equity Partners (OEP), a middle market private equity firm, has completed the sale of Anvil International (Anvil), a designer, manufacturer and provider of high-quality products that connect and support piping systems, to Smith-Cooper International (Smith-Cooper). Financial terms of the private transaction have not been disclosed.  Anvil manufactures branded fittings, seismic bracing, struts, pipe shields and valves for US and global businesses across the industrial, mechanical, fire protection, mining and energy industries. MMC Ventures has launched the GBP52 million MMC Greater London Fund as part of the Mayor of London’s new initiative – the Greater London Investment Fund.  The MMC Greater London Fund (GLF) will enable investment into the most innovative, high-potential digital companies in London; to unleash their potential with the funding required to accelerate their growth; and to support their journeys with valuable connections, resources and experience. Development Partners International (DPI), a pan-African private equity firm, has sold its funds’ total holdings in Eaton Towers Holdings (Eaton Towers) to American Tower Corporation (ATC).  Eaton Towers owns and operates over 5,500 towers across five African markets. The sale will give Eaton Towers an enterprise valuation of approximately USD1.85 billion, subject to customary closing adjustments.  DPI was a founding investor in Eaton Towers, when it was acquired in 2009 by Q-Ventures. Alternative investment firm Värde Partners has invested in professional services provider Equiom to help fund future expansion in line with the company’s growth strategy.  Värde joins Equiom’s longstanding equity partner LDC, which has supported Equiom’s growth since investing in the business in 2013.  Värde manages USD14 billion in assets and invests across a broad array of geographies and strategies, including more than 20 years of experience investing in the financial services sector. Agritech startup TaniGroup, which operates agriculture e-commerce TaniHub and peer-to-peer lending provider TaniFund, has raised USD10 million in a Series A round led by Openspace Ventures with participation from Intudo Ventures, Golden Gate Ventures, and The DFS Lab. The Series A investment will accelerate TaniGroup’s expansion of their services across Indonesia and new product development. PNC Bank has closed a USD90 million senior secured credit facility for Iconex (Iconex), a portfolio company of Greenwich, CT-based Atlas Holdings.
