Hyperion launches Ranger Fire & Security following Ignis and Amerex acquisitions

Hyperion Equity Partners, a mid-market private equity firm specialising in buy-and-build strategies, has launched Ranger Fire & Security with funding from alternative lender ThinCats, following its acquisition of two UK fire and security businesses, Ignis Fire Protection and Amerex Fire International.

Ranger, the new parent company, will provide inspection, maintenance, repair and installation of portable fire extinguishers, fire sprinklers, fire alarms, emergency lighting, suppression systems and other ancillary services. According to a press release, the company has over £20m in funding capacity. Its management team, led by CEO Mark Bridges, expects to make at least an additional six acquisitions by the end of 2024.

As part of the acquisition process, Hyperion evaluated more than 150 different fire and security businesses, finally selecting Ignis Fire Protection, a fire detection and security-based business, and Amerex Fire International, a vehicle and kitchen suppression service provider.

Ranger was advised by Cortus for financial and tax due diligence, RSM for tax structuring and Gateley Legal for legal support.
