I2BF appoints director of investments

I2BF, an international cleantech focused investment management group, has appointed David Waserstein as director of investments.

Waserstein joins I2BF from US-based private equity firm Hudson Clean Energy Partners. He was at Hudson from its inception and worked on the initial fund raise as well as several deals in wind, solar and biofuels.

Waserstein will take responsibility for I2BF’s current venture capital portfolio, as well as new investments and the structuring and raising of future VC funds.

I2BF’s team expansion is associated with its ambitious plans for launching two new funds to compliment its current offering: a second USD100m global renewable energy and cleantech focused VC fund, and a EUR30m water focused fund.

Ilya Golubovich, partner, says: “I2BF is undergoing a period of rapid growth and David’s experience will be invaluable as we manage that growth, bring more capital under management and expand our portfolio.”

Waserstein says: “I am pleased to be joining the team at I2BF which over the last four years has built up an impressive portfolio of cleantech companies. I2BF’s partnership approach to working with management teams along with its technical expertise were compelling elements in my decision to move from private equity to venture capital. The international reach of the operation is clearly attractive and I’m looking forward to working with some of the most exciting and innovative companies in cleantech.”

I2BF was established in 2005 as an international fund management group focusing on venture capital and public equity activities in the clean technology sector. I2BF’s venture fund currently has ten investments in its portfolio.

I2BF launched a long-short hedge fund investing in global public market opportunities in the clean tech sector in 2008.
