James Ferguson appointed chairman of Amati

Amati Global Investors, the newly formed investment manager, has appointed James Ferguson as chairman.

Ferguson is currently chairman of Value and Income Trust, Monks Investment Trust, The Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust and Northern 3 VCT.

He also serves as a director of The Independent Investment Trust and Audax Properties and a trustee of Lloyds TSB Foundation.

He is the former chairman of Stewart Ivory and former deputy chairman of the Association of Investment Trust Companies.

Amati recently won the investment mandate for Victory VCT and completed a round of fundraising for the Amati VCT (formerly Noble AIM VCT), the only AIM VCT to have raised new money every year since inception.

Amati VCT’s latest fund raising closes on 12 August 2010.

Paul Jourdan, chief executive of Amati, says: “We are delighted that James has agreed to join us so soon after gaining our independence. His experience will be a great asset to the firm as we enter the next stage of growth.”

Ferguson adds: “From a standing start at the beginning of the year Amati has rapidly established its credentials as a high quality smaller companies specialist with ambitious plans for growth. I am excited to be joining it at this early stage in its development.”
