Kenya-based impact investment fund DOB Equity has appointed Karen Serem Waithaka as Chief Executive Officer.
In her new role, Waithaka will lead the fund in creating impact by investing in and supporting local entrepreneurship to drive changes in the food & agriculture, water and energy sector in East Africa.
Waithaka was previously Chief Investment Officer at Catalyst Fund, a venture capital fund investing in pre-seed start-ups. At Catalyst Fund, she was responsible for leading the investment process, which included sourcing opportunities, due diligence and closing deals.
Waithaka has previously worked for Global Partnerships, TBL Mirror Fund and Spark Fund.
DOB Equity focuses on sustainable food systems, energy waste, climate solutions and water and sanitation services. Its portfolio currently consists of 25 portfolio companies. The fund provides equity and equity-like solutions (convertible) loans.
