Macquarie Infrastructure has announced that its management company, Macquarie Infrastructure Management (USA), has appointed James Hooke to the position of chief executive.
Hooke succeeds Peter Stokes who, after five years as chief executive of Macquarie Infrastructure and 12 years in the New York office of the Macquarie Group, has decided to return to Australia.
Hooke will assume day to day responsibility for Macquarie Infrastructure following the release of the company’s financial results for the first quarter. Stokes will deliver Macquarie Infrastructure’s financial results to the market on 7 May and is working closely with Hooke to ensure a smooth transition.
Hooke is a managing director in the Macquarie capital funds division of the New York office of the Macquarie Group, a position he has held since joining the company in 2007. He was most recently responsible for corporate development and management of a portfolio company investment for Macquarie Infrastructure Partners.
John Roberts, chairman of Macquarie Infrastructure, says: ‘On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Peter for his leadership of Macquarie Infrastructure since its establishment in 2004. As the company’s founding chief executive, Peter has helped the company achieve numerous milestones including its initial public offering, acquisitions of high quality infrastructure businesses and the formation of a strong management team.’
