ARQIS has advised Shimadzu Corporation on the acquisition of all shares in infraserv Vakuumservice, which is involved in servicing turbomolecular pumps in Europe. infraserv Vakuumservice has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Shimadzu. With 25 employees, infraserv Vakuumservice reached annual net sales of EUR4.9 million in 2017. The company is based near Munich and servicing vacuum equipment for major semiconductor and equipment manufacturers in Europe. It has advanced technological capabilities and good relationships with their customers. Shimadzu has already outsourced turbomolecular pump service work to infraserv Vakuumservice.   The acquisition marks a step towards further development of Shimadzu’s turbomolecular pump
AXA Investment Managers – Real Assets (AXA IM – Real Assets) has acquired, on behalf of its client, AXA France, the remaining interest in DATA4, a European data centre owner and operator. The deal increases AXA France’s ownership of the platform from 37 per cent to 100 per cent. The stake was acquired from funds managed by Colony Capital.   DATA4 finances, designs, builds and operates data centres and currently provides a total of 27,100 sq m of net technical space and over 140 MW of available power. NorthEdge Capital has held the closing of NorthEdge Capital SME Fund I at its GBP120 million hard cap. The Fund was raised from existing investors and enables the firm to broaden its ability to take advantage of attractive investment opportunities in the U.K. regional lower mid-market. Indar Capital has secured Tages Capital as anchor investor for the imminent launch of the Indar European Special Opportunities Fund, which will employ an opportunistic deep value plus catalyst strategy focused on liquid European equities and distressed situations. Roman Zurutuza (pictured), left Gruss Capital Management (Gruss) in December 2017 to form Indar Capital. He has been joined by his analyst team from Gruss, Adrian Taylor and Carlos Soriano, who have worked with him for almost 10 and four years respectively. Raza Khan joins as COO, together with Tyson Appadoo as Trader and Priti Anda, also ex-Gruss, as Head of Operations.

The EQT VIII fund (EQT VIII) and EQT Ventures fund (EQT Ventures) are, together with company founders and other co-investors, to acquire Saxo Payments Banking Circle from Saxo Bank A/S and other minority owners. EQT VIII will have the majority ownership. Founded in 2013, Banking Circle is a next-generation provider of mission-critical infrastructure for online cross-border payments. Today, Banking Circle is processing around EUR60 billion run-rate annual payment volumes for several high-profile customers using direct clearing access through partnerships with blue-chip partner banks. Paragon Group, a provider of customer communications, identification and graphics services, has acquired Imprimus Limited which will become part of Paragon Customer Communications’ business in the UK. Imprimus, formerly known as Stralfors UK, has an annual turnover of around GBP14 million; following the acquisition Paragon Group revenues will exceed EUR700 million during the coming financial year.   The investment in Imprimus is in line with Paragon Group’s strategy to actively integrate complementary businesses in a positive way. OakNorth has completed a deal with MC&C, the international performance media consultancy and media buyer backed by Key Capital Partners (KCP). Private Equity Partners (Inflexion) has completed a minority investment in Mountain Warehouse, a UK-based outdoor clothing and equipment retailer. The investment is being made from Inflexion’s specialist minority fund, Partnership Capital. The deal sees Inflexion invest approximately GBP45 million for a near 20 per cent stake, attributing Mountain Warehouse an enterprise value of GBP310 million.   Mountain Warehouse will continue to be run by founder and CEO Mark Neale and his team.   Neale started the business with a single store in 1997. Abingworth, an international investment group dedicated to life sciences, has held the final closing of its latest fund, Abingworth Bioventures VII (ABV VII) at USD315 million. ABV VII exceeded its target of USD300 million and is Abingworth’s 12th fund, investing in life sciences companies in Europe and the US. The firm has funds under management of over USD1.2 billion.   The fund invests broadly across all stages of development including early and late-stage venture deals, Clinical Co-development, VIPEs (Venture Investments in Public Equities) and public equities. Investment size per company will typically range from USD15 million to USD30 million.  
Waterland Private Equity has acquired a stake in corporate fitness network Hansefit. The company, a B2B platform for fitness services with its headquarters in Bremen, has more than 1,300 corporate customers. “We are delighted that we will be able to support Hansefit – the market leader in the high-growth segment of company fitness networks – in expanding and rolling out its high-quality services,” says Dr Gregor Hengst, Principal of Waterland Private Equity.
