Flexioffices (Flexi), one of the UK’s leading serviced office brokers, has secured GBP8.2 million of investment from NVM Private Equity (NVM) as part of the funding package for a management buyout.
The investment from NVM will help to accelerate Flexi’s international growth and drive continued development of their technology. The deal is NVM’s second management buyout from NVM Private Equity Vintage III LP.
Headquartered in London, and founded by Paul Slinn in 2000, the Flexi team are experts in finding the perfect workplace solutions for individuals, businesses and organisations through specialist knowledge of the entire UK flexible workspace market.
LDC, a UK-based mid-market private equity investor, has backed the management buyout of OCS Asset Solutions, a provider of specialist retail and financial support services, from international facilities management services company, OCS Group Ltd.
The deal, which includes a GBP13 million investment from LDC, will see the firm’s six-strong management team co-invest for a significant stake.

Global investment bank GCA Altium has completed six deals worth over GBP1 billion in the space of two weeks, marking a bumper fortnight for the global advisory firm.
The high-profile deals include: advising Vitruvian on its acquisition of Travel Counsellors; leading the GBP217 million IPO of LDC-backed Team 17; the GBP88m sale of Warrington headquartered IESA to GBP3 billion market cap Electrocomponents; advising management on the sale of JLA to Cinven; advising NorthEdge on its acquisition of Cutwel; the sale of Livingstone, provider of software asset management services, to The Carlyle Group.

Chainvine has secured GBP2.5 million (USD3.34 million USD) in a Series A funding round led by Deepbridge Capital.
Chainvine works closely with its clients’ management teams to integrate their existing ledger systems into a bespoke blockchain based platform, allowing them to better manage their supply chain and contract data. Chainvine’s platforms enable clients to evolve their existing ledger systems rather than completely overhauling them, by harnessing the potential of blockchain technology without prior technical experience.

Noerr has advised the European Investment Bank (EIB) on the EUR100 million financing of VIVAWEST, a housing association serving the North Rhine-Westphalia region.
The funds are secured via the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI).
VIVAWEST will use the credit line to build around 900 homes in various cities and municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia, constructing low-energy homes that meet the KfW 55 standard. The credit line can be drawn down in several tranches and has a maximum term of 13 years.

Omnes Capital has invested EUR1.7 million in Nanomakers, becoming the largest shareholder in the French start-up producer of nanopowders. The deal aims to increase the company’s production capacity, continue its R&D efforts and strengthen the recruitment of key positions.
Founded in 2010 and based in Rambouillet, the French start-up Nanomakers has been designing and producing since 2012 patented silicon-based nanopowders which transform the mechanical, chemical or thermal properties of materials. Its disruptive technology has made it possible to triple the energy density of Li-ion batteries anodes, or to lighten and reinforce the mechanical properties of certain materials (metal alloys, elastomers)
GCA Altium has acted as exclusive financial advisor to Livingstone Holdings Limited, a provider of software asset management services, on its sale to The Carlyle Group.
Founded in 2010, Livingstone offers a full range of services covering all major enterprise software vendors. The company works with clients to collect and analyse information in order to establish their effective licence positions, determine if software usage is higher or lower than legally contracted, address any related issues, and create a framework to optimise their software deployment over time.

White Star Capital, a global venture capital fund with offices in London, New York, Montreal and now Paris and Tokyo, has closed its second institutional fund at USD180 million.
The fund, which was oversubscribed and had an initial target of USD140m target, will back around 20 new companies with an initial investment of USD1 million to USD6 million. The fund will continue to focus on companies that use data as a competitive advantage and where the fund’s operational experience and physical presence can help companies scale internationally.

Law firm Stroock has represented Atlas Merchant Capital as co-lead investor in the acquisition of Talcott Resolution, the run-off life insurance and annuity division of The Hartford.
The total consideration to The Hartford of USD2.05 billion was comprised of cash, a pre-closing dividend, transferred debt and a 9.7 per cent ownership interest in the acquiring company; the transaction generated total value to The Hartford’s shareholders of approximately USD3 billion. The deal closed on 31 May 2018. Stroock’s deal team was led by insurance M&A partner Bernhardt Nadell and private equity partner Bradley Kulman.
