BGF has exited its minority investment in Brownhills Glass, an independent UK’s glass merchant and processor.
BGF invested GBP2.9 million in the Walsall-headquartered company in 2015 to support the acquisition of Durham-based Peterlee Glass, helping extend its presence into the North East. The funding has also supported investment in a new manufacturing site for Peterlee, expanding its capacity. Brownhills will now continue its growth strategy with new investment from Duke Royalty, a provider of alternative capital solutions.

Crocus Technology, a supplier of disruptive Tunnel Magneto-Resistance (TMR) sensors, has secured USD35 million in funding through a combination of debt and equity from internal investors and external sources.
The funding will enable Crocus Technology to accelerate its revenue growth by expanding its operations and go-to-market resources and by investing in the continuous development of innovative products to serve the demand of existing and emerging markets.

PGGM Private Real Estate, an investment division of the second largest Dutch pension fund service provider, has established a joint venture with Redevco, one of Europe’s leading retail real estate investment managers.
The EUR550 million Urban Retail Ventures will invest in the most desirable and favourable shopping and leisure complexes in Europe, using a research-driven methodology to select those cities that are thriving as quality retail locations.

Geospatial Insight, a specialist in visual intelligence derived from geospatial big-data, has secured a GBP3.5 million growth equity investment from Foresight Williams Technology EIS Fund and VenturesOne Investments.
The financing will be used to expand Geospatial Insight’s machine learning capabilities as well as fast-tracking additional product streams and visual intelligence customer solutions.
The capital injection follows a Series A investment by VenturesOne, growth equity investors, completed in July 2017 and seed funding by Midven, the Birmingham based venture capital company, through the Exceed Partnership Fund in December 2014.

UK bookseller Waterstones has been acquired by funds managed by activist hedge fund manager Paul Singer’s (pictured), Elliott Advisors.
Waterstones operates a chain of 283 bookshops located across the UK and Ireland, and in The Netherlands and Belgium, and had sales of over GBP400 in the year to end April 2017.
Lynwood Investments, controlling shareholder of Waterstones since 2011, will retain a minority stake.

The acquisition of this minority stake alongside the management team aims at supporting the future development of Nexteam Group.

Vistra, a provider of international incorporations, trust, fiduciary, private office and fund administration services, is to acquire Radius, a specialist US-based provider of international expansion services, from private equity firm Hg.
The transaction doubles Vistra’s International Expansion Services (IES) business, making it a market leader in IES services, including the number one market position in the USA. Vistra’s IES business helps clients navigate expansion into new markets, including establishing offices, obtaining the necessary licensing to operate in foreign markets and ongoing services, such as compliance and payroll.
