Private equity investment in European companies hit a 10-year high in 2017 at EUR71.7 billion, a 29 per cent year-on-year increase, according to new data released today by Invest Europe.
Almost 7,000 companies received investment, of which 87 per cent were small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

High Road Capital Partners has sold its portfolio company All Integrated Solutions (AIS) to MSC Industrial Supply Co, marking the sixth exit for the firm’s debut fund, High Road Capital Partners Fund I.
The transaction closed on 30 April, 2018. Purchase price was approximately USD86 million.
Wisconsin-based AIS is a leading independent distributor of industrial OEM fasteners, Class C components and MRO products in the Upper Midwest. High Road acquired AIS, formerly known as Accurate Components and Fasteners, in 2012. Gresham House is to acquire the entire issued share capital of FIM Services Limited (FIM), an alternative investment fund manager specialising in UK real assets, specifically sustainable forestry and renewable energy investments, by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gresham House Holdings Limited (GHH), for a total consideration of up to GBP25.0 million on a cash-free, debt-free basis – subject to certain adjustments.
The acquisition combines two leading firms in UK commercial forestry management and renewables, adding both assets under management (AUM) and in-house investment expertise to Gresham House Forestry and Gresham House New Energy. Upon completion, Gresham House’s AUM will be over
EXL, an operations management and analytics company, is to acquire SCIOInspireHoldings, a West Hartford Connecticut-based healthcare analytics solution and services company (doing business as SCIO Health Analytics).

KPS Capital Partners (KPS) has created a new company, Autokiniton Global Group (AGG), to pursue investments in the global automotive supply industry. George Thanopoulos, a widely respected industry executive, will serve as AGG’s Chief Executive Officer.
KPS also announced today that AGG is to acquire L&W. Following completion of the transaction, Thanopoulos will become L&W’s Executive Chairman, while Scott Jones will continue to serve as President and lead the company’s management team.

Aviva Investors, the global asset management business of Aviva, has acquired a 49 per cent interest in a portfolio of UK onshore wind farms from Fred. Olsen Renewables Limited in one of the largest single acquisitions made by its infrastructure platform to date.
The portfolio includes two operational assets: Crystal Rig III Limited (six turbines, 13.8MW) and Brockloch Rig Windfarm Limited (30 turbines, 61.5MW). Both are located in Scotland.
Fred. Olsen Renewables will continue to provide asset management services to the projects, undertaking the day-to-day operational responsibility for the wind farms.

Graphene technology development company Paragraf, a recent spin out from the University of Cambridge, has closed a GBP2.9 million seed round to support the development of its first major products.
The round is led by Cambridge Enterprise, the commercialisation arm of the University of Cambridge, with the participation of Parkwalk Advisors, Amadeus Capital Partners, IQ Capital Partners and angel investors.

Investment firm Greenbriar Equity Group (Greenbriar) has sold Ryan Herco Flow Solutions (Ryan Herco) to SunSource Holdings (SunSource), a distributor of hydraulic and fluid control power products in the United States and Canada.
Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
