Matillion, the makers of cloud data integration tools Matillion ETL for Amazon Redshift, Matillion ETL for Snowflake and Matillion ETL for Google BigQuery, has closed a USD20 million Series B round of funding led by Sapphire Ventures, existing investor Funds advised and managed by YFM Equity Partners (YFM), and new investor Scale Venture Partners. The company, based in Altrincham, (Manchester, UK) and Manhattan (New York, US), was founded by Matthew Scullion in 2011, alongside Chief Technology Officer Ed Thompson and Commercial Director Peter McCord. Blockchain Capital, a venture capital firm focused exclusively on the blockchain technology sector and crypto ecosystem, has closed Blockchain Capital IV, LP a USD150 million fund. The fund, which is the firm’s largest fund raised to date and brings assets under management to USD250 million, was oversubscribed at its hard cap with institutional limited partners representing fund of funds, foundations, strategic investors and family offices.   Since its inception in 2013, Blockchain Capital has invested in 72 companies, protocols, and tokens, including Coinbase, Ripple, Circle, Ethereum, 0x and Kraken. Averys, a European manufacturer of industrial storage systems, racking and metal furniture, backed by private equity firm Equistone Partners Europe since 2015, has acquired Storax from Ramada Aços Group SA. Founded over 50 years ago in Porto, Storax is a leading provider of industrial racking and shelving systems and is a well-known and active brand in the materials handling sector. As well as its home market in Portugal, Storax has significant activities in Belgium, France and the UK. Asian healthcare company Columbia Asia has raised a new round of investment of USD210 million to help in its aggressive expansion strategy.    Columbia Asia, part of Seattle-based Columbia Pacific Management, has 29 hospitals and two clinics in India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Kenya, built with an innovative business model focused on serving Asia’s rapidly growing middle class with modern and efficient multi-specialty hospitals located close to where patients live and work. Shamrock Capital, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm, has sold its ownership stake in Consilio, a specialist in eDiscovery, document review, and legal consulting services to private equity firm, GI Partners. As part of the transaction, Consilio announced a definitive agreement to combine its operations with eDiscovery and risk management provider, Advanced Discovery, creating one of the largest and most capable legal solutions and services providers in the world. The transaction is expected to close late in the second quarter of 2018, subject to usual and customary closing conditions. Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe (WCAS), a private equity firm focused exclusively on the technology and healthcare industries, is to acquire a majority equity interest in Avetta, a provider of cloud-based supply chain risk management solutions. Renephra, a medical device company, has raised GBP231,000 from Deepbridge Capital and the GM&C Life Sciences Fund, managed by Catapult Ventures. Renephra, spun out of The University of Manchester and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust by UMI3 Ltd, is developing an innovative medical device to treat patients with chronic oedema and fluid overload.
