UgenTec, a medical technology company that has developed an AI-driven polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis and workflow software, has closed a USD9.3 million (EUR7.5 million) funding round.
UgenTec automates and standardises high-throughput molecular diagnostics, particularly PCR. PCR analysis is a widely-adopted method for analysing DNA. It has enabled molecular laboratories to test DNA samples for a wide field of applications including infectious disease and oncology.

SK Capital, a private investment firm focused on the chemicals, specialty materials, and pharmaceuticals sectors, completed its previously announced acquisition of the Fire Safety and Oil Additives businesses of Israel Chemicals Ltd (ICL). The businesses have been renamed Perimeter Solutions (Perimeter) and will be headquartered in St Louis, Missouri.

Pandion Mine Finance, an investment firm backed by MKS PAMP Group and Ospraie Management, that provides flexible financing solutions to developing mining companies, has closed its inaugural fund, Pandion Mine Finance Fund (PMFF) at USD175 million.
Pala Investments Limited committed capital to PMFF.
PMFF seeks to identify attractive investment opportunities with typical investment size ranging from USD10 million to USD40 million. To date, PMFF has committed nearly USD60 million to four junior mining companies: Lupaka Gold Inc; Gowest Gold Ltd; FMS Investimentos e Participações LTDA; and Firesteel Resources Inc.

Midaxo, a Finnish developer of a cloud M&A platform, has closed a EUR12.9m funding round comprising EUR10.3m for the company and EUR2.6m for the existing shareholders – led by major growth investor Idinvest Partners, with the participation of the existing investors Tesi and EOC Capital.

BGF’s GBP10 million of growth capital funding has been used by
Hasa, a portfolio company of middle market private equity firm Peak Rock Capital, has acquired Inter Valley Pool Supply (IVPS), a leading packager and distributor of water treatment chemicals.
Headquartered in Pomona, California, IVPS packages and distributes high-quality water treatment products and has operated as a licensed distributor of Hasa-manufactured liquids for more than 20 years. IVPS serves a wide array of municipal, industrial and pool & spa customers in the Southern California region.

GCA Altium has acted as exclusive financial advisor to FTSE 100 chemicals firm Croda on the acquisition by its subsidiary Croda Europe of research and development company Plant Impact plc.
The transaction was announced initially in February and has now become effective by means of a scheme of arrangement between Plant Impact and shareholders.

Investors in the Assetz Capital platform are yet to be convinced by cryptocurrencies, with just 16 per cent seeing them as worthwhile investments.
The peer-to-peer lending platform canvassed the views of its investors in the Q1 Assetz Capital Investor Barometer. Some 43 per cent believe the entire market is on the brink of collapse, while 40 per cent feel cryptocurrencies are still too immature at present with significant risks attached. Only 14 per cent feel it is a worthwhile investment but only in moderation, with just 2 per cent thinking it is the future of investments.
