Global University Systems (GUS) is to acquire Arden University, an online distance and blended learning university with 6,500 students, from US-based Capella Education Company.

Audax Private Equity is selling Laborie Medical technologies to Patricia Industries, a part of Investor AB.
Headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, Laborie Medical Technologies is a provider of medical devices for urological, pelvic health and gastrointestinal applications.
The company’s products are used in the diagnosis and treatment of urinary incontinence and other urological and GI conditions.
Laborie supplies physician offices, hospitals, and mobile providers on six continents. Since Audax’ initial investment in 2012, Laborie has completed 14 acquisitions to expand product lines and enter international markets.

The USD1bn Club of infrastructure investors, a group of 69 institutional investors that have allocated USD1 billion or more to the asset class, have become dominant players in the infrastucture fundraising market, according to research by Preqin.
More than two-thirds (69 per cent) of the USD1bn Club have a separate infrastructure allocation, compared to 34 per cent of smaller investors. USD1bn Club investors also have an average allocation to infrastructure of 7.0 per cent of total AUM, compared to 3.3 per cent for their smaller counterparts.

Investec Growth & Acquisition Finance has supported the recapitalisation of Romford-based aviation business Farsound by Rubicon Partners and Grovepoint Capital, an investment partnership focused on the acquisition of industrial businesses in Europe and North America.
Farsound is a global supply chain provider and manufacturer of consumable component parts to the aerospace engine sector. It was acquired in July 2011 by Rubicon Partners and today comprises two divisions: Farsound Aviation and XCEL Aerospace.
The group supplies maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) workshops with parts mainly for overhaul maintenance in the engine after-market. Farsound had a group turnover of around GBP18.9 million
Shareholders of visual analytics software specialist Qlik have approved the sale of the company to private equity investment firm Thoma Bravo.
With the shareholder vote complete, all approvals required to complete the transaction have been received and the transaction is expected to close on 22 August 2016.
Upon closing, Qlik shareholders will be entitled to receive USD30.50 in cash for each share of Qlik common stock they hold.

Clearwater International has advised the owners of Dutch European Camping Group (ECG) on its sale to French Homair Group (HOMAIR), a provider of camping holidays.
In 2016, ECG will assist more than 100,000 guests when booking their camping holidays and short family vacations. The majority of holidays sold are camping under ECG’s high-end brands, Roan and Go4Camp.
ECG currently owns 1,500 mobile homes and 1,000 luxury tents on various campsites in Italy, France, Croatia and Slovenia. Third party camping holidays are sold on the online platforms www.allcamps.nl and www.go4holiday.nl, which are owned and managed by ECG.
HOMAIR’s acquisition
Mid-market private equity investor Equistone Partners Europe has acquired a majority stake in United Initiators (UI), investing alongside the firm’s current management.
Equistone has acquired the business from Vision Capital and Speyside Equity for an undisclosed sum.
Headquartered in Pullach, Germany, UI is the largest focused global producer of speciality chemical initiators.
With over a century of history, UI globally offers a broad range of organic peroxides, persulfates and selected speciality chemicals. Its broad and diverse portfolio comprises products across four specific business segments: speciality polymers, thermosets, high polymers and chemical specialities. CEL Global Investment Fund, a private equity fund sponsored and managed by China Everbright Limited (CEL), has completed its first closing with total capital commitments of approximately USD264 million.
CEL Global Investment GP Limited and CEL Global Management Company Limited, each an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of CEL, serve as the general partner and the investment manager of the fund, respectively.

Marketing automation software developer Marketo has been acquired by Vista Equity Partners, a private equity firm focused on investments in software, data, and technology-enabled businesses.
The transaction, originally announced on 31 May 2016, was completed on 16 August.
The acquisition – which combines Marketo's product and industry leadership with Vista's investment and operating model for high-growth SaaS companies – begins the next phase of growth for Marketo, in which the company will continue to focus on setting the agenda for innovation and thought leadership for the digital marketing industry.
