Private markets asset management firm Hamilton Lane has successfully closed on USD200 million in private capital for its first Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) Fund, with significant support from anchor investor, the New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF). A number of other institutional investors participated, including TD Bank, Bank of NY Mellon, HSBC Bank, Deutsche Bank and First Niagara Bank.   Through the SBIC Program, the US Small Business Administration (SBA) provides funding to qualified investment management firms with expertise in certain sectors or industries. Japanese company Topcon Corporation intends to submit a purchase offer to the shareholders of ifa systems AG via its Dutch subsidiary Topcon Europe BV with the aim of acquiring a 50.1 per cent holding in the firm. As ifa systems AG shares are listed on the Entry Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, rather than the regulated market, the offer is not subject to the Securities Acquisition and Takeover Act (WpÜG); it is primarily governed by general stock corporation law requirements.   The announced offer price is EUR15.20 per share, meaning that ifa systems AG is valued at around EUR42
Alternative asset manager Aquila Capital has won the bid to acquire Småkraft AS, the largest operator and developer of small-scale hydropower plants in Norway. The acquisition will be the third public hydro transaction for Aquila Capital in 18 months and will further expand the firm’s already significant footprint in the hydropower sector.   The transaction includes Småkraft’s portfolio of 45 operating plants generating over 500 GWh annually and a substantial development project portfolio led by a strong operational organisation. Santander Corporate Bank has provided a new GBP50 million committed debt package to Poundworld Retail Limited, a UK value variety retailer, to support its next stage of growth and store roll out plan.  Poundworld continues to have no material financial leverage and now benefits from the security of having enhanced and committed banking facilities. Tenable Network Security has raised USD250 million in a series B funding round led by Insight Venture Partners and Accel. Carey Olsen has advised Gravis Capital Partners on the initial public offering (IPO) of a new GBP100 million Jersey fund, Project Finance Investments Ltd, which is now listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange.
