Digital payments company Pomelo Pay (Pomelo) has raised USD10 million in a Series A round led by UK-based independent investment firm Inference Partners.  The investment will allow the company to expand its presence across global markets including Europe and Asia, starting with plans to double their workforce in London, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines.   Launched in 2018 in UK and Singapore, Pomelo allows merchants to digitise their payment infrastructure and take payments from anyone, in any location (physical or digital), at near zero costs. Pixie, a UK-based startup creating a simpler approach to practice management and workflow automation for small accounting and bookkeeping firms, has raised GBP2.25 million in a seed funding round led by Triple Point Ventures, with the participation of Seedcamp, MMC Ventures, and serial entrepreneurs and angel investors including Duane Jackson (Kashflow, Staffology), Will Neale and Chris Adelsbach. Pixie’s mission is to create the operating system for small firms around the world, who can centralise and automate their processes using the platform’s intuitive workflows to manage work more effectively, scale their firm, and leave clients delighted. Yieldstreet, a multi-asset alternative investment platform, has closed a strategic USD50 million follow-on investment, led by London-based Mayfair Equity Partners, a technology and consumer growth investor. The latest capital raise, following on from Yieldstreet’s Series C funding round, highlights the growing recognition of Yieldstreet’s transformational digital platform. Yieldstreet was established to provide retail investors access to alternative investment opportunities previously reserved for institutions and ultra high-net worth individuals. Since its foundation, Yieldstreet has funded over USD2.5 billion investments to date and has over 325,000 members on its platform. Early stage venture investor Leo Capital is planning to launch a third fund as India is set to receive a record USD35 billion in venture funding from global investors.  Over the past three years, Leo Capital has raised USD106 million for two funds from investors around the world seeking technology centric opportunities in India and Southeast Asia.    Leo Capital was established by Rajul Garg and Shwetank Verma in 2017. Klingel medical metal group (Klingel), owned by the IK Partners’ funds, is to acquire Ruetschi Technology Holding AG (Ruetschi), a contract manufacturer for medical devices, with a special focus on  sterile packaged single-use procedure kits for orthopaedic, spinal and dental surgery.  This transaction represents the fourth acquisition for Klingel since IK Partners (IK) acquired a majority stake in 2018. Ruetschi was founded in 1960 and employs more than 200 people at three production sites in Muntelier (CH), Yverdon (CH) and Renquishausen (DE). Gradiant, a global end-to-end cleantech water treatment solutions provider and projects developer, has raised over USD100 million in Series C funding.
UK eCargo bike brand Eskuta Limited, has received a total of GBP1 million worth of funding from The Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF), West Mids Debt Finance Fund, managed by Maven Capital Partners, and backed by the Recovery Loan Scheme (RLS). The business, which has headquarters in Nuneaton, had already received funding from MEIF to support the business’s ambitious growth plans, but has now received a second funding round of GBP500,000, bringing the total to GBP1 million. ENGIE has acquired Abengoa’s indirect stake in Xina Solar One (Pty) Ltd. Following completion of the transaction, ENGIE will now hold a 40 per cent equity stake in the 100 MW Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plant, as well as a 46 per cent of the Xina Operations & Maintenance Company (Pty) Ltd. The Xina Solar One plant, located at Pofadder in the Northern Cape, provides approximately 400 GWh of clean, sustainable and dispatchable electrical energy to 95,000 South African households and prevents the emission into the atmosphere of approximately 348,000 tons of CO2 each year. ACA Group (ACA) and Foreside Financial Group, LLC (Foreside), two providers of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) solutions to clients in the financial services industry, are to combine their two companies.  Genstar Capital (Genstar), a leading private equity firm, invested in Foreside earlier this year. Genstar will be the majority owner of the combined business as a result of acquiring a controlling interest in ACA from Starr Investment Holdings, LLC upon completion of the transaction.
