Topas Therapeutics GmbH (Topas), a private biotechnology company developing immune tolerance-inducing drugs to treat and potentially cure a variety of autoimmune diseases, today announced that the Company has successfully extended its Series B round with an additional EUR18 million (~USD22 million) raised, bringing the total for this financing to EUR40 million. All of Topas’ existing investors participated in the extension.

Queen’s Gambit Growth Capital (Queen’s Gambit), the first special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) led by women, is to acquire Swvl, a Dubai-based provider of transformative mass transit and shared mobility solutions, in a deal that will see Swvl becoming a publicly listed company.
Upon completion of the proposed transaction, the combined public company will be named Swvl Holdings Corp and is expected to be listed on NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “SWVL”.

INKR, a digital comics platform, has secured USD3.1 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Monk’s Hill Ventures. Investors Stu Levy, Founder & CEO of TokyoPop, and VI Management also participated in the round.
The funding will be used to increase its content catalogue, further expand its product development and marketing to grow user base, and for talent acquisition.

HMNC Brain Health (HMNC), a biotech company pioneering the development of personalised therapies in psychiatry powered by predictive companion diagnostics, has received an additional EUR9 million from its current investors.
The supplemental investment brings the total raised to date to EUR28 million and will secure HMNC’s financial position in advance of an expected Series B round later this year.
The current raise, in the form of convertible debt, was provided by renowned family offices, including that of Carsten Maschmeyer, the Jahr family and Dr Guntard Gutmann.
The additional funds will be used to accelerate HMNC’s pipeline development towards market maturity.

Airwallex, a global payments platform, is to establish Capital 49, a new venture capital (VC) fund set up by Airwallex founders, that will invest into early stage, high-growth technology-enabled companies powered by Airwallex’s infrastructure.
The new fund aims to raise USD200 million through the Airwallex founders and other investors, and will look for opportunities to invest among companies within Airwallex’s ecosystem, across a number of industries including e-commerce, SaaS, digital and technology, business services and enablers, and fintech.
