Browne Jacobson’s Corporate Technology team has advised Omega Crop, an agricultural modelling and remote sensing business, on its GBP1.2 million seed round by science business builder, Oxford Sciences Innovation (OSI).
Omega Crop (formerly operating as Dark Horse Technologies) was set up by two MBA students from the University of Oxford and specialises in the supply of sustainable tech products, tools and services aimed at the agricultural industry.

Leading mid-market private equity firm LDC has exited its investment in ID card printer and software business Magicard to listed international manufacturer Brady Corporation (BRC).
LDC invested in Magicard in May 2016 to support the business’ organic and international growth strategy. During LDC’s partnership with Magicard, the business invested heavily in new product development, releasing six innovative new products in the last two years alone. It has also further developed its printing software capabilities with patent protected IP.

Biotechnology company AlgaeCytes Limited is to build its first commercial plant in Dessau, Saxon-Anhalt, Germany. The plant will be owned and operated by the Company’s German subsidiary, AlgaeCytes Germany GmbH.
The production facility will be a state-of-the-art site housing AlgaCytes’s unique algae-based technology to produce natural, vegetarian, traceable high potency algal EPA, beta-carotene and agricultural crop biostimulant from sustainable sources to serve the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and food verticals.

By 2022, the level of global mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity involving technology providers will surpass previous highs recorded in 2018, according to Gartner, Inc.
Acquisitions of tech providers were briefly impacted in 2020 by the onset of the pandemic, but M&A activity quickly rebounded into 2021 as the economy began to recover.
“Market conditions for deal making will continue to improve as volatility stemming from Covid-19 subsides,” says Max Azaham, senior research director at Gartner. “Tech CEOs pursuing acquisitions should anticipate increased competition for targets and take steps to gain advantages over other acquirers to earn seller acceptance.”
OMERS Private Equity is to acquire a 25 per cent stake in International Schools Partnership (ISP) from Partners Group. OMERS Private Equity invests on behalf of OMERS, a defined benefit pension plan for municipal employees in the Province of Ontario, Canada. The transaction values ISP at an enterprise value of EUR1.9 billion.
Assured Guaranty (Europe) SA (AGE), an indirect subsidiary of Assured Guaranty, has guaranteed principal and interest payments on approximately EUR125 million of bonds issued on 21 May 2021 by Anselma Issuer SA, an entity owned by Qualitas Venture Capital.

Investment funds managed by Morgan Stanley Capital Partners (MSCP), a middle-market focused private equity team at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, have completed an investment in Nivel Parts & Manufacturing (Nivel), sold by funds managed by Kelso & Company. MSCP is partnering with the current management team led by Brent Moore, who will remain as CEO.

Middle-market private equity firm HKW’s portfolio company, Traductions Serge Bélair Inc (TRSB), has acquired Anglocom. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
