Mid Europe Partners forms three-member industry advisory board

Mid Europa Partners, a private equity firm focused on Central and Eastern Europe, has formed an Industry Advisory Board through the appointment initially of three members.


The Industry Advisory Board is a network of senior industry executives with whom Mid Europa has long standing relationships and will provide insight and introductions for the Mid Europa investment team in target sectors across the CEE region. Mid Europa expects to expand the Industry Advisory Board through further selective appointments over time.

The initial appointments include Bruno Ducharme, Steve Johnson and Richard Oppenheim.

Ducharme is Chairman of TIW Capital Partners, a private investment company. From 1994 to 2005 he served as CEO of TIW, a mobile operator with operations in The Czech republic and Romania which he co-founded in 1994 and which was sold to Vodafone for USD4.4B in 2005. In 2010 and 2011 he acted as Group CEO of Vizada, a global satellite services company which EADS has agreed to acquire for USD960M. Ducharme holds an MBA from The Wharton School, an MA from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BCL from McGill University.

Johnson is Chairman of Dreams Beds in the UK and member of the Board of Lenta in Russia. From 2008 to 2009 he served as CEO of Woolworths Group Plc and prior to that from 2003 to 2007 as CEO of Focus DIY Limited. Previously he worked at Asda Plc, where he held a number of executive positions, including Marketing Director and Corporate Development Director. Johnson holds an MEng in Production Engineering and BA from Cambridge University.

Oppenheim is a Supervisory Board Member of Anzag, a German pharmacy wholesaler and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Boots Pension Fund. Previously, he held a number of Senior Executive positions with Unilever, culminating with European Executive Board responsibility for 13 national operating companies including Russia and Central and Eastern Europe. Prior to Unilever’s acquisition of Bestfoods, he was on the Executive Board of Bestfoods Europe. Prior to that he managed the Bestfoods/CPC’s operations as country MD in Hungary, Israel and the UK. He commenced his career at Lever Brothers. Oppenheim attended the Highgate School and Brasenose College, Oxford.
