HIG Capital (HIG), a global alternative investment firm with USD48 billion of capital under management, has appointed Antonio Botija as a Managing Director in HIG’s London office and George Watts as Managing Director in HIG’s New York office.
Botija has over 20 years of experience in infrastructure private equity with a focus on the middle market. Botija has been covering a wide range of regions and sectors, including sustainable energy, digital, transport and social infrastructure.

HealthQuad, an Indian healthcare venture capital fund, has held the final close of its second fund, HealthQuad Fund-II, with a total subscription of USD162 million, more than 2.2 times greater than its target size at launch.
MSD, the global biopharmaceutical company, led commitments from global financial investors, strategic institutions in pharma and healthcare, development financial institutions (DFI), funds of funds and large European conglomerates.
The diverse investor base includes Ackermans & van Haaren (AvH), Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA), Quilvest, HCL Corporation, DFIs such as CDC, Swedfund and SIDBI and India’s leading banking services company.

First Eagle Investments (First Eagle) is to acquire Napier Park Global Capital (Napier Park), an alternative credit manager with approximately USD18.7 billion in assets under management as of 31 December, 2021, predominantly for institutions through credit funds, US and European collateralised loan obligations, and real assets.
As an autonomous, wholly owned unit of First Eagle Investments, Napier Park will go to market as “Napier Park, a First Eagle Investments Company” and maintain its investment approach, business focus and client service.

East Chop Capital, a private equity firm with USD20 million in assets under management, has raised USD9 million for its real estate fund that is focused on the USD112 billion global vacation rental market.
This is the company’s second fund, capitalising on the intersection of real estate, the rebound in travel, and the future of hybrid work. The capital raised thus far is more than double the size of the first fund, with investor commitments received in 85 per cent less time.

Hablutzel officially joined Chi in January 2022. Chi is the advisor of the Burning Issues Impact Fund (BIIF), a Luxembourg-based impact VC fund.

Baseload Capital has embarked on its first project in the US to harness excess heat from oil and gas wells. This will also be the company’s first collaboration with German supplier Orcan Energy.
After evaluating several potential locations, Baseload Capital identified a suitable site with excess hot water, which is a byproduct in the oil and gas extraction process. Using Orcan Energy’s modular solution which have proven successful in the oil and gas environment, the geothermal heat from this otherwise unutilised energy source will be used to generate CO2-free electricity.
PRO Unlimited, an integrated workforce management (IWM) platform provider, is to acquire Geometric Results, Inc. (GRI), an independent, outsourced workforce management specialist, from funds managed by Bain Capital Private Equity Europe.
This acquisition will increase the value of PRO’s IWM platform by adding GRI’s proven Managed Services Program (MSP) capabilities to its robust portfolio of SaaS, Talent Intelligence and Professional Services solutions.
GRI is currently owned by MSX International, a portfolio company of funds managed by Bain Capital Europe, that provides technology-enabled business process outsourcing.
px Group, an infrastructure solutions business and operator of several UK energy sites, has acquired Fairport Engineering (Fairport), the engineering and materials handling specialist based in the Northwest of England which includes Fairport Tunnelling Technologies in Sunderland.
The deal, the value of which is undisclosed, brings Fairport’s materials handling expertise into px Group’s group of businesses. The acquisition is the company’s first since being acquired itself by Ara Partners in April 2021 and follows the acquisition of Camm-Pro and NRG Well Management in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Fairport’s 70-plus staff will now be part of px Group.
