Wisedocs, a machine learning software-as-a-service for medical record processing closes has closed a CAD4.1 million oversubscribed Seed financing round led by Ripple Ventures. Greensky Capital, and angel investors including George A Papayiannis of Vena Solutions, and startup veteran, Tim Lett also particpated in the round.  Wisedocs’ software relies on proprietary machine learning models using Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) to read and analyse various documents involved in a medical record review.

HIG Capital (HIG) portfolio company, Nadir Figueiredo (Nadir) has completed the acquisition of Cristar Tabletop (Cristar) from Owens Illinois, a US-listed company. The two companies combined generated revenues in excess of USD252 million in 2021. Based in Colombia, Cristar is a leading glass tableware company in the Andean region, holding a comprehensive drinkware portfolio of over 2,000 SKUs and modern facilities. The company has an export-oriented sales strategy, serving over 40 countries worldwide.
Cathay Capital, Eurazeo via its Small-Mid Buyout team, and Sagard NewGen, have signed an exclusivity agreement with a view to investing in DiliTrust alongside its management team led by Yves Garagnon and Nadim Baklouti. Under the agreement, the consortium of investors would become the group’s core shareholder by investing more than EUR130 million. Audax Private Equity (Audax) is to sell Lifemark Health Group (Lifemark), a provider of physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and medical assessments in Canada, to Loblaw Companies Limited (Loblaw). Headquartered in Toronto, ON, Lifemark provides outpatient physiotherapy, massage therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, mental health, and other ancillary rehabilitation services.  Since partnering with Audax in December 2015, Lifemark has completed over 50 acquisitions, broadened its service offering, and significantly expanded its national footprint. Animoca Brands and Liberty City Ventures have led a USD88 million funding round in Hex Trust, a Hong Kong startup offering custody services for crypto assets, according to a report by Bloomberg. The Series B round, which which also attracted participation from new investors including Ripple, Terra, Morgan Creek and Primavera Venture Partners, sees the business reach a valuation of USD300 million. Hex Trust will use the proceeds to expand in Europe and the Middle East, and obtain additional licenses beyond its current bases in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Webflow, a no-code visual development platform for the professional website and CMS market, has closed a USD120 million Series C funding round at a USD4 billion valuation, bringing the company’s total funding to more than USD330 million. Y Combinator’s Continuity fund led the round, with participation from existing investors CapitalG, Accel, Silversmith, and Draper Associates.  The company will use the investment to expand further into the enterprise and invest in its core community, starting with a USD10 million grant program to help creators build businesses on Webflow.
Circle Cardiovascular Imaging (Circle CVI), a specialist in cardiovascular imaging solutions, has secured a strategic growth investment from software investment firm Thoma Bravo. Thoma Bravo’s involvement is expected to drive future investment in product innovation, extend Circle CVI’s market leadership position and fuel future growth.  Financial terms of the transaction, which is expected to close in the second quarter of 2022, have not been disclosed. Circle CVI is a provider of AI-based cardiac imaging and reporting solutions, including cardiac MRI (CMR) and cardiac computerised tomography (CT) imaging post-processing software. 
CalPERS, the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, upped it allocation to alternatives by over USD7 billion at then back end of 2021, according to a report by AlternativesWatch. The new funds were allocated to eight opportunistic credit strategies during Q4 2021 with the USD490 billion pension scheme having added private debt to its allocation strategy earlier in the year following a strategic review of investments.
