Octopus Energy Group has entered into a major strategic partnership with Generation Investment Management, a firm established in 2004 to back businesses driving sustainability and the fight against climate change, in a deal that valued the UK entech pioneer at USD4 billion pre-deal, and up to USD4.6 billion post-deal.
The agreement, which has been several months in the making, will see Generation’s Long-term Equity strategy take a stake of up to approximately 13 per cent in the business. Octopus will use the proceeds of Generation’s strategic investment to turbo boost its mission to drive the renewable revolution globally.

Morrison & Foerster, a global law firm, has released the results of its annual Tech M&A Market Survey, which show that dealmakers foresee 2022 sustaining a high level of M&A deal volume on top of record-setting activity in 2021.

Mercer Global Advisors, (Mercer Advisors), a national Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) majority owned by both Oak Hill Capital and Genstar Capital, has acquired Miller Advisors (Miller), a wealth management firm located in Kirkland, Washington.
Miller serves approximately 200 clients with assets under management (AUM) of approximately USD240 million. Miller was founded by Kathleen Miller, CFP, CDFA joined by her daughter Nicole Miller, CFP, CDFA, offering comprehensive wealth management services to its high-net-worth individuals, families, and their businesses, as well as planning for divorcing couples. Mid-market private equity firm LDC has completed a multi-million-pound investment in Marmalade Game Studio (Marmalade), a UK market leading games developer and publisher, to support the management team’s ambitious organic growth strategy and future game launches.

JP Morgan Private Capital today announced the appointment of Luke Sikora as a Partner of its Growth Equity Partners platform. Sikora will serve as a member of the Investment Committee and help lead the platform’s investing efforts on the West Coast.
Based in Palo Alto, Sikora joins from Vulcan Capital where he spent the past eight years investing in and being a long-term partner to private, rapidly growing private technology companies across the globe (full bio below). FLC Credit Partners’ private credit fund has provided a term loan and preferred equity to Goodnight Trail Resources (Goodnight Trail) to fund the purchase of its assets by existing operator RedBud E&P, Inc (RedBud).
Goodnight Trail Resources is an exploration and production company focused on producing, high cashflow conventional assets in the eastern shelf of the Midland Basin. This new financing will allow the existing operator of the assets, RedBud, to purchase the assets from their current owner to continue their low-decline production and pursue selected development opportunities that Goodnight believes are low cost and low risk.
