Aksia has hired Chris Thorne as a Managing Director for Private Equity & Real Assets Research in its London office, where he will be involved in all phases of the investment process including sourcing, due diligence, monitoring and assisting the Portfolio Advisory team.Thorne brings over fifteen years of experience investing capital across the European and US private equity markets, and twenty-three years of private equity experience in total including his advisory roles. Most recently, Thorne was a Managing Director and day to day responsible for European Primary Private Equity Funds and syndicated Co-investments at Temasek in London for seven years.
Toy manufacturer and distributor Sambro International Ltd is assessing growth opportunities after securing a GBP13 million funding package with Barclays Bank. The Manchester-based business, achieved strong sales in 2020 despite the challenges imposed by the pandemic. Sambro employs more than 90 staff and has offices in Bury, Hong Kong and Amsterdam.

Funds advised by SK Capital Partners have made a controlling investment in Tilley Chemical Company, a distributor and value-added service provider of specialty chemicals and lubricants. SK Capital’s investment will serve as the basis for a new strategic partnership with the Tilley family, who will continue to retain a significant ownership stake and involvement in the Company.

Infrastructure and private equity investment manager Foresight Group has held an interim close for Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners (FEIP) with commitments of cEUR430 million. Including co-investments to date, this represents a total capital pool in excess of EUR600 million.
This close sees new investment from Postens Pensionsstiftelse, investment manager of the Swedish National Post Service, and a US-based institutional investor alongside the first close commitments of EUR342 million announced in January 2020. In April this year, Foresight signed advisory agreements with nine co-investors for the acquisition of the 231MW Skaftåsen wind project in Sweden (announced April 2020).
