BGF-backed Kids Planet has acquired North West-based Kids Allowed in a deal which makes it the UK’s third biggest nursery group. Kids Planet now has 52 nurseries across the North West and Midlands and provides care to nearly 6,000 children. The business was founded in 2008 by CEO Clare Roberts and her father John, who is now Chair. Clare’s sister, Lucy Kaczmarska joined as Childcare Director in 2013. Stephen Welton, founder CEO of BGF, has been appointed by the company’s Board to the new role of Executive Chairman.

Since the launch of Edmond De Rothschild’s Bridge IV in April 2018, which comprises a combination of subfunds, the Bridge platform has raised EUR1.25 billion, well above its initial EUR750 million target. This latest fund raising brings total Bridge platform assets raised since its initial launch in August 2014 to EUR2.6 billion. Considering new Bridge assets rely mainly on third party fund raising by Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management’s in-house sales teams, this is a notable accomplishment for ad independent family-owned firm.

Glasgow based investment syndicate Kelvin Capital has seen a 19 per cent increase in its total investments in 2019, compared to 2018 levels. The record figure saw GBP12.5 million being invested, up from GBP10.5 million in 2018, with new syndicate members joining from Europe and the Far East.
In the last quarter of 2019 alone, GBP2.75 million was invested in Scottish based businesses including GBP1m into hydrogen technology company Logan Energy. In the first quarter of 2020, GBP3.3 million of new investment has already been committed to portfolio companies.
