BGF – the UK and Ireland’s most active investor in growing businesses – has appointed James Marshall to its Manchester investment team, covering the North West.Marshall joins from Clearwater International and brings more than five years of working on deal origination, having joined the business with an economics degree in 2014.
Marshall’s role at BGF will see his continued focus on deal origination as he works alongside the investment team to identify ambitious entrepreneurs and management teams looking to secure investment to support their growth ambitions.

SSE Renewables is to expand its onshore wind pipeline through the acquisition of a 29-turbine, shovel-ready consented wind farm development in Ireland with an installed capacity in excess of 100MW, subject to final turbine selection. SSE Renewables has acquired the Yellow River Wind Farm project outside Rhode in County Offaly from Green Wind Energy (Wexford) Ltd. The project was granted full planning consent in 2014.
On-site pre-construction works have already commenced, and SSE Renewables expects to begin full construction of the wind farm in late 2020 with an expected project completion date in 2022. The project is expected to support up

Financial terms of the private transaction have not been disclosed.

Sun Life Financial is to acquire a majority stake in InfraRed Capital Partners (InfraRed), a global infrastructure and real estate investment manager. InfraRed advises institutional and pooled fund clients on approximately USD12 billion (CAD16 billion) in assets under management as of September 30, 2019. InfraRed is headquartered in London, UK and has more than 175 partners and staff.
InfraRed will form part of SLC Management, Sun Life’s alternatives asset management business. The acquisition is integral to Sun Life’s strategy of broadening its asset management pillar by extending the capabilities of SLC Management to the benefit of existing and prospective clients.

Inflexion Private Equity has agreed to acquire Aspen Pumps, a manufacturer of specialist pumps, from 3i Group plc. The investment is being made by Inflexion Buyout Fund V, Inflexion’s dedicated mid‐market buyout fund. This will be Inflexion’s second period of ownership of Aspen, following a highly successful partnership between 2007 and 2015, during which EBITDA tripled.
