Assetz Capital has added a new private fund for institutional investors, in collaboration with a specialist marketplace lending fund manager.
The fund gives institutional investors and family offices an additional and dedicated channel to invest in loans on the Assetz Capital marketplace. Established in Luxembourg, the private fund is eligible to institutional, professional or other well- informed investors, and will use an existing, cost-efficient fund structure.
Investors in the fund will participate in a portfolio of short-term UK loans to SMEs originated by Assetz Capital – with around 90 per cent coming from regional geographies outside London. All loans are
Hermes Investment Management has appointed Kevin Roche as a Director for Private Debt and CLO’s. Reporting to the Head of Direct Lending, Laura Vaughan, Roche will be based in London and will work across the private debt platform.
The private debt team manage European and UK direct lending strategies focused on senior-secured loans in the mid-market space. Co-lending partnerships with partner banks in the UK and Europe provide a strong origination pipeline which is utilised in conjunction with the team’s own pan-European reach.
In his new role, Roche will help to develop the Hermes business globally within private debt.
OpenFin has raised USD17 million in Series C funding from major banks and leading Fintech investors. The funding round was led by Wells Fargo with participation from Barclays and existing investors including Bain Capital Ventures, JP Morgan and Pivot Investment Partners.
The Series C round brings OpenFin’s total amount of venture funding to USD40 million. Proceeds from the financing will be used to make OpenFin OS ubiquitous on financial desktops and to fund further product innovation. Global investment bank GCA Altium has strengthened its Manchester team with two promotions and two new hires.
Mark Smith has been promoted to Director, after five years at GCA Altium. Mark has advised on over GBP700 million of transactions in the last year, including the investment in UKFast by Inflexion in a GBP406 million deal, and the sale of Sofology to DFS Furniture Plc.
Alongside this, Phil Chadwick has been promoted to Vice President, having worked at GCA Altium for two years, and has recently been involved in advising on deals including UKFast and the backing of Cloud Technology

Wood will take on a pivotal role in driving forward Altair’s growth strategy in the Channel Islands as it looks to support the governance and oversight needs of a rising number of businesses across Guernsey and Jersey.
With over 20 years of financial services experience, particularly in the fund administration sector, Guernsey-based Wood joins Altair from Sanne where he was a Private Equity Director and Guernsey Country Head. Prior to that, he was Managing Director of State Street’s Alternative Investment Solutions.

In his new role, Conroy (pictured) will assume overall responsibility for the development, growth and delivery of the Group’s real assets and private debt service offerings. He succeeds Mark Wanless, who has been appointed Chief Operating Officer.
