Middle market private equity investor Ridgemont Equity Partners has formed a strategic partnership with The Speech Pathology Group (SPG), a school and centre-based provider of behavioural health and therapeutic services to children with autism and other special needs in Northern California.
Ridgemont and SPG have formed Autism Intervention Services, a management services organisation, to support SPG’s growth. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Colony Capital (Colony) has closed its acquisition of Abraaj Group’s private equity platform in Latin America. The transaction was first announced on 23 January, 2019.
The Company has been renamed Colony Latam Partners and will continue to be headed by its senio rmanagement team, led by Miguel Olea, Hector Martinez, Gerardo Mendoza and Eduardo Cortina. The Company currently manages over USD700 million and has made 22 investments across Latin America since its establishment in 2006.

Activa Capital has acquired a majority position in Medisys, together with Turenne Santé, the entrepreneur and new CEO Guillaume Bouillot and the management team. Bernard Chevalier, founder, is supporting the operation and remains a shareholder.
Medisys is a software publisher in the home-care field and for institutions specialised in dependent persons.
After nearly 30 years at the head of the company based in Aix-en-Provence and created in 1991, its founder Bernard Chevalier hands over the management to Guillaume Bouillot, a software entrepreneur.

Amerborgh has sold a part of its stake in fintech company Ohpen to NPM Capital to finance ongoing and future projects, including the arts and culture centre “het HEM” in Zaandam.
The Ohpen SaaS, cloud native core banking platform administers retail investment and savings accounts for banks and other financial institutions.

The capital will be used towards further growth in financial services and fast-growing applications of their AI technology to autonomous vehicles, robotics and machine learning. Healthcare private equity outperformed other asset classes in 2018, with disclosed deal values surging almost 50 per cent to USD63.1 billion, topping last year’s level of USD42.6 billion, and deal count rising to 316 in 2018 from 265 in 2017.
That’s according to Bain & Company’s eighth Global Healthcare Private Equity and Corporate M&A Report, which reveals that strong investment activity across all regions and in sectors such as healthcare IT (HCIT), provider and biopharma included 18 deals greater than USD1 billion each in disclosed deal value, pushing larger assets to levels that are out of reach for most buyers.

A cross-jurisdictional Carey Olsen team has advised Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC) on its acquisition of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc for USD5.6 billion in fully diluted equity value.
The acquisition, which was first announced in September 2018, has now completed and advances MMC’s leadership position in insurance and reinsurance brokerage, health and retirement. It also builds on the group’s efforts to expand in faster-growing geographies and market segments and invest in data and analytics.

Hg Saturn and its investors have agreed to a further circa EUR640 million equity investment in Visma, a provider of business-critical software to private and public enterprises in the Nordic, Benelux and Baltic regions.
The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) will also make a further investment of circa EUR110 million in Visma as part of this transaction.

Late-stage, venture-backed tech companies significantly outperformed the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Technology Index in the fourth quarter of 2018, according to the SharesPost US Private Growth Index.
The Index, composed of 106 companies, rose 10.9 per cent in the fourth quarter from the third quarter of 2018. The S&P 500 fell 14.3 per cent in the fourth quarter, and the Dow Jones US Technology Index declined 17.9 per cent from the third quarter of 2018.

London-based growth capital investor, VGC Partners, has appointed Andrew Lister as Investment and Portfolio Director as the firm looks to invest from its GBP50 million Fund II in high-growth consumer, media and technology businesses.
Lister joins from Marlin Equity Partners, where he spent over three years as a portfolio manager for European assets. Andrew worked alongside companies with revenues between GBP20 million and GBP100 million, mainly in the B2B technology space, and led post-closing initiatives to increase value ahead of eventual exits, acting as interim CFO in some cases.
