PGGM Private Real Estate, an investment division of the second largest Dutch pension fund service provider, has established a joint venture with Redevco, one of Europe’s leading retail real estate investment managers. The EUR550 million Urban Retail Ventures will invest in the most desirable and favourable shopping and leisure complexes in Europe, using a research-driven methodology to select those cities that are thriving as quality retail locations. “Our PGGM private real estate fund investment strategy has EUR11.5 billion in AUM, which we invest globally and we continue to expand that portfolio,” says Mathieu Elshout, Senior Director Private Real Estate, PGGM.
Geospatial Insight, a specialist in visual intelligence derived from geospatial big-data, has secured a GBP3.5 million growth equity investment from Foresight Williams Technology EIS Fund and VenturesOne Investments. UK bookseller Waterstones has been acquired by funds managed by activist hedge fund manager Paul Singer’s (pictured), Elliott Advisors. Waterstones operates a chain of 283 bookshops located across the UK and Ireland, and in The Netherlands and Belgium, and had sales of over GBP400 in the year to end April 2017.   Lynwood Investments, controlling shareholder of Waterstones since 2011, will retain a minority stake.   Founded in 1977, Elliott is one of the oldest and largest private investment organisations globally, with funds under management of approximately USD35 billion. Lendity AG, a provider of investment solutions for alternative lending and private debt, has launched a diversified bond to invest in loans from small and medium-sized enterprises as well as consumer loans originated through Swiss marketplace and peer-to-peer lenders. Tikehau Capital, an alternative asset management and investment group, is in exclusive negotiations, to acquire a minority stake in Nexteam Group, a supplier in the machining of complex parts and hard metals for the aerospace industry.
