Onex Corporation (Onex) has raised USD7.15 billion for Onex Partners V, surpassing its USD6.5 billion target.
The fundraising was supported by both existing and new investors, including large public pension plans, sovereign wealth funds and other institutional investors globally.

Private equity firm IK Investment Partners (IK) has appointed Sander van Vreumingen as a Partner responsible for IK’s Benelux Small Cap team.
IK has been present in the Benelux region since 1995 and has invested over EUR1 billion into thirteen successful investments during this time. Gide’s Casablanca and Brussels offices assisted Renault Trucks (Volvo group) on the divestment of its Moroccan subsidiary, Renault Trucks Maroc, to longstanding distribution partner Groupe Bernard Hayot (GBH).
The closing took place on 1 November 2017, following the approval of the transaction by the Moroccan competition authorities.

Danish environmental services group Reconor, a portfolio company of private equity firm Agilitas, has completed its third acquisition of 2017. Financial terms of the deal have not been announced.
Reconor, based in Farum, Denmark, is further strengthening its activities in Southern Jutland with the acquisition of the business of 7-9-13 Recycling, a waste collection and recycling company established in 2000 and counting more than 250 customers, served with over 250 mini-containers and over 85 skips. The acquisition follows the purchase of Mijodan a/s, also based in Southern Jutland, in October 2017 and the acquisition of Lotra a/s in June 2017.
LDC, a mid-market private equity investor, has strengthened its London team with the appointment of private equity specialist, Philip Weston, as an investment director.
The expansion is part of LDC’s nationwide pledge to invest GBP1.2 billion of equity in UK small and mid-sized companies over the next three years, with its team in the capital seen as an important driver in this commitment. The hire creates a 10-strong investment team in London, part of LDC’s 50-strong national team.

Noerr had advised Bridgepoint and its portfolio company WiggleCRC on the acquisition of Bike24 from the private equity fund Riverside.
Bike24 is an e-commerce platform for bicycles, sports equipment and clothing active in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The company, which is based in Dresden, was taken over in 2011 by Bridgepoint and is one of the fastest-growing online bicycle retailers in Europe.

By Arne Bolch, GSK – On 1 August 2016, the Luxembourg Act on reserved alternative investment funds (RAIF), entered into force. It allowed for the setting up of RAIFs, with their defining feature of indirect supervision by their AIFM rather than direct supervision by the CSSF.
The RAIF now has gained momentum. It seems to be on track to follow in the footsteps of everybody’s Luxembourg darling, the specialised investment fund (SIF) or the investment company in risk capital (SICAR), although a comparison to the unregulated AIF taking the legal form of a limited partnership is difficult to establish.
