NOW Money has closed its bridge funding round with a total of USD1.46 million in commitments. In addition to a recent US Venture Capital investment, this funding round includes USD700,000 from Dubai-based Venture Capital firm, Myrisoph Capital. OrbiMed, an investment firm focused on the healthcare sector, has closed its third Asia-focused private equity fund, OrbiMed Asia Partners III, LP, with approximately USD551 million in capital commitments. Consistent with its predecessor funds, Asia Partners III will invest broadly across the Asian healthcare industry, with a focus on growth stage product- and services-oriented companies in China and India. The Fund will target investments from USD10 million to USD75 million per company across 15 to 20 opportunities. European private equity firm Silverfleet Capital has promoted Mark Piasecki, Klaus Maurer and Jean Châtillon to partners in the firm. Piasecki is based in London and joined Silverfleet more than ten years ago. During this time, he has been responsible for making investments across most of Silverfleet’s target sectors including Business & Financial Services and Retail, Leisure & Consumer Products. Albion Capital is seeking to raise up to GBP38 million through top up offers for its six venture capital trusts (VCTs).

 The fundraising targets GBP8 million for Kings Arms Yard VCT and GBP6 million across each of Albion’s other VCTs. Investments spread across all six portfolios will receive a monthly dividend with a yield of approximately 5.6 per cent, or 8.0 per cent after tax relief, a potentially attractive income source in the current low interest rate environment.

Private equity firm Activa Capital’s portfolio company Mecadaq, a provider of high precision manufacturing for the aerospace industry, has acquired Armoa, a specialist in high precision machining. The acquisition takes place 18 months after the creation by Activa Capital of a consolidation platform in aerospace subcontracting. This is the second significant build-up for Mecadaq, which already generates revenues of EUR32 million in aeronautic subcontracting, primarily in the area of machining of aero structure parts for civil aircraft. AMAL Therapeutics (AMAL), a Swiss biotech developing peptide-based therapeutic cancer vaccines, has completed the first tranche of its Series B financing round, raising EUR8 million (CHF8.8 million).
