CCMP Capital Advisors (CCMP) is to acquire a controlling interest in Eating Recovery Center (ECR), a provider of specialised treatment for individuals with eating disorders, from Lee Equity Partners and other investors. ERC’s Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ken Weiner, the management team and the clinical team will remain in place and are committed to expanding the business. UK private equity investor LDC has backed the management buyout of Pelsis, a European manufacturer of branded pest control products, in a multi-million-pound deal that will enable Pelsis to accelerate its global growth strategy. Pelsis manufactures, supplies and distributes a wide range of pest control products to both the professional and domestic markets. Macquarie Specialised Investment Solutions (MSIS) has appointed Steve Berry (pictured), as Division Director of its Fund Finance business.  The Fund Finance business specialises in providing bilateral and syndicated lending transactions to investors in, and sponsors of, top-tier private equity and hedge funds.   Based in London, Berry will be responsible for expanding existing credit fund financing capabilities and driving the expansion of Macquarie’s Fund Finance coverage in Europe, focusing on opportunities across private equity and private debt funds. Steve will report to Pratap Dasgupta and Mike Vitelli, co-heads of the business, both of whom are based in New York.  
Nasdaq has successfully completed 90 Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs) initial public offerings (IPOs) raising USD15.3 billion in total. Since the adoption of new listing rules in 2011, Nasdaq has consistently been the exchange of choice for SPACs, attracting 96 per cent of all SPAC IPOs listing on a national exchange.   Thus far in 2017, Nasdaq has welcomed 18 SPAC IPOs, which eclipses the 13 SPAC IPOs that took place in 2016. Artificial intelligence company Appier has secured Series C investment of USD33 million from SoftBank Group Corp, LINE Corporation, NAVER Corporation, Singapore-based EDBI and Hong Kong-based AMTD Group. This fundraising round brings the total amount of investment in the company so far to over USD82 million.   Appier believes AI can help enterprises deal with today’s rapidly changing business environment, helping them process enormous amounts of data to identify patterns and make intelligent decisions. Private equity firm May River Capital has completed its acquisition of BJM Pumps. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. BJM Pumps represents the first acquisition that will form a new Industrial Pump Platform build out by May River. Brad Sterner, a member of May River’s Executive Resource Group, will serve as Executive Chairman of the Pump Platform as well as interim CEO of BJM Pumps.
