Offshore global law firm Carey Olsen has retained its tier one position in Guernsey and Jersey for both its financial and corporate and investment funds advice in International Financial Law Review 1000 (IFLR1000).
IFLR1000 rankings are based on independent research over a 12-month period and serve as a definitive guide to the world’s leading financial law firms.

M&A activity among small IFA firms is set to increase over the next two years, according to over half (55 per cent) of advisers polled by Investec Wealth & Investment.
Over a third (37 per cent) forecasts a rise in M&A among larger firms too as the industry continues to consolidate at pace.
The main driver behind this, according to 42 per cent of respondents, is owners looking to sell their businesses in order to retire or semi-retire.

All of NatWest’s business and commercial customers can now access an expanded panel of alternative lenders to which they can be formally referred if borrowing directly from the bank is not possible.
The panel, called Capital Connections, builds on NatWest’s existing partnerships to signpost small business customers to alternative sources of finance.
The panel now enters its final full launch phase, following a pilot which introduced the wider panel of all five lenders to commercial customers with a turnover of up to GBP25 million in South West England, Wales and Scotland earlier this year.

KKR has appointed Timothy R Franks as a member in its London office as of 1 February 2017.
Franks will lead coverage of the consumer and retail industries in Europe, Africa and Middle East as a member of the private equity team, will support UK coverage and will sit on the European private equity investment committee.

UK venture capital investor Albion Ventures has made a GBP1.5 million investment in automotive technology specialist SBD.
Headquartered in Milton Keynes with offices in North America, Japan and India, SBD provides independent research, evaluation and strategic services to 95 per cent of the world’s leading car manufacturers.
The company recorded more than 50 per cent revenue growth in the last financial year ended March 2016.

According to Cogent Partners, secondaries volume was USD22.5 billion in 2010. This rose to USD27.5 billion in 2013, and reached USD42 billion in 2014. Last year, deal flow was estimated to have reached USD40-50 billion.

East Midlands-based Johnsons Aggregates & Recycling has secured a GBP10 million funding package to support the construction of the UK’s most technically advanced plant for recycling incinerator bottom ash (IBA) and the company’s long-term growth plans.
BGF (Business Growth Fund) has provided GBP5 million of equity capital and NatWest has provided a further GBP5 million debt facility.
The new GBP11 million recycling facility, located on a seven-acre freehold site in Stanton, Derbyshire, will be fully operational by early 2017. Johnsons currently recycles around 150,000 tonnes of IBA every year. The new plant increases this capacity to 450,000 tonnes per annum.
JAC Products, a designer, manufacturer and global supplier of original equipment roof racks, cargo management systems, running boards and step rails to equipment vehicle manufacturers, has been acquired by Tulsa-based private equity fund Argonaut Private Equity.
The sale was effective 28 October 2016.
JAC Products, which has over 1,500 employees globally, was previously owned by Wynnchurch Capital. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
