Westbridge Capital has led a GBP4 million financing round to assist DB Systems Limited – a supplier of audio visual and IT equipment, interactive software and temporary network infrastructure to trade shows, large exhibitions and live events – with its growth plans.
DB Systems was founded by David Bulley who continues as CEO, leading a strong operations team with many years’ experience in the events industry.
Sales and employee numbers have grown rapidly in recent years. The business now has annual revenues of GBP8m and 63 employees. It supplies equipment to some of Europe’s best known events and venues, including
Business Growth Fund (BGF) has completed its first investment in Northern Ireland, in a deal led by BGF’s growing team of investors based in Leeds.
BGF has invested in Derry-based Braidwater, a family owned housebuilder that has been designing and building affordable residential housing across Northern Ireland for more than 40 years.
Braidwater builds high quality two to five bed family homes, with a strong focus on design and building efficiency. The business is run by founder and Executive Chairman Patrick McGinnis and his son, Managing Director Joe McGinnis.

CBO Investment Management (CBO IM), the Nigeria based investment management firm focused on African private equity, has appointed Gary Steinberg as the Head of its Advisory board and a member of the Investment Committee.
Steinberg joins CBO with immediate effect as he retires from his role as Chief of the Investment Unit at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) after nearly six years in post.

As well as being the Managing Director of the Guernsey office, A Moorshead dam who joined JTC in 2015 following the acquisition of Kleinwort Benson’s fund administration business, will have cross-jurisdictional responsibilities. UK Thai restaurant group Giggling Squid is to accelerate its growth following a GBP6.4m investment from BGF (Business Growth Fund), a provider of growth capital to UK-based small and mid-sized businesses.
Giggling Squid, which has 13 sites across the South of England, will use the BGF funds to add further locations to its portfolio of successful restaurants. A new report from Goldman Sachs, produced in partnership with the British Business Bank and the Enterprise Research Centre with support from Scale-Ip Institute and Said Business School, details the critical role UK SMEs can play in addressing the UK’s ‘productivity gap’, a deficit identified in the UK Government’s Productivity Plan (July 2015).
The report, Unlocking UK Productivity – Internationalisation and Innovation in SMEs, finds that smaller businesses have the potential to contribute to UK economic growth in three key ways: stimulating innovation; spurring competition, and; accelerating job creation.

Aurelius Group has acquired Colt Managed Cloud (CMC), the managed cloud business of Colt Group SA (Colt), which will now be integrated with another Aurelius portfolio company ICT services provider Getronics Group.

London-based private equity firm Agathos has invested in EAT Communications to help fund the firm’s acquisition of a property marketing agency.
With the financial backing, EAT Communications has extended its portfolio of companies which includes Inhabit, with the acquisition of AP Marketing, a London-based creative marketing agency which delivers creative marketing campaigns and one-off solutions for clients in the property arena. Inhabit, with offices in London and Uckfield, is a strategic brand and communications agency for clients in the technology and built environment.

Ahead of the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Meeting on 18 and 19 November, Asia Pacific CEOs have expressed a number of concerns and believe prospects for business growth over the next 12 months are dimming fast.
