White Star Capital, a transatlantic Venture Capital fund with offices in London, New York and Montreal, has closed its first institutional fund with USD70 million in Limited Partner commitments.
White Star Capital will deploy between USD500,000 and USD5 million in initial investments into companies in North America and Western Europe.

NexusCrowd has launched a new real estate redevelopment project on its online investment platform, after partnering with Downing Street Realty Partners, a Toronto-based real estate investment manager and merchant bank.
Downing Street is the lead investor for the CAD12 million project, which includes three industrial properties in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Some 80 per cent of limited partners (LPs) have seen their co-investments outperforming private equity funds, with 46 per cent seeing their co-investments outperform by a margin of over 5 per cent, according to a survey by Preqin.
This level of performance is the biggest draw for investors, with two-thirds of LPs citing better returns as the biggest benefit of co-investing alongside GPs.

Cyber security software company Panaseer has successfully raised USD2.25 million through a syndicated seed investment round. The investors include Albion Ventures, Notion Capital, Winton Technology Ventures, C5 Holdings, and Elixirr.
Panaseer was founded in 2014 by Nik Whitfield and a team of cyber security experts from BAE Systems. It is one of a new wave of UK cyber security start-ups working with commercial enterprises and was selected to accompany Prime Minister David Cameron to Washington DC earlier this year as part of a cyber-security delegation. Panaseer has since signed its first New York based Financial Services client.
