Markit has launched Markit WSO Credit Manager, a credit and portfolio analysis application for investment professionals focused on bank loans. Credit Manager was designed in partnership with CVC Credit Partners and other industry experts. The application helps portfolio managers and credit analysts make investment decisions by centralising the data they need to select investments, monitor credit performance and identify risk.  Credit Manager streamlines credit selection with screening functions that filter investment opportunities based on technical and fundamental criteria. The system alerts users about changes to portfolio holdings and provides collaboration tools to help investment teams coordinate their response if action
Quercus Assets Selection, which specialises in infrastructure investments with a focus on renewable energy, is to launch two new renewable energy infrastructure funds, bringing the total number of funds in its portfolio to five. The launch of the two new funds will complement the recently launched Quercus European Renewables fund to maximise the portfolio’s risk/return profile through a meticulous strategy of diversification. Quercus is looking to raise a minimum combined target of EUR500 million across the three funds, which is to be invested in connected wind and solar plants in Italy, as well as in other renewable technologies throughout Europe.
Private equity firm Mid Europa Partners has successfully completed the acquisition of a 100 per cent stake in Centrul Medical Unirea SRL (Regina Maria). With approximately 300,000 corporate subscribers, the Regina Maria is a premium integrated private healthcare services operator in Romania with a national presence of 24 polyclinics, four hospitals, 13 labs and six imaging facilities.   Mid Europa, which focuses on buyouts in Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey, plans to pursue a growth strategy for Regina Maria, both organically and through acquisitions.
Hausfeld is to expand its operations in Europe with the opening of a German office in Berlin after agreeing a EUR30 million deal with Burford Capital to finance competition claims and complex commercial litigation. Hausfeld Rechtsanwälte LLP will formally open in Berlin by 1 January, 2016 and will be staffed by German partners and other lawyers with significant experience and reputations in the competition area in Germany. Specific personnel announcements will be made in the coming weeks. Jay Fishman has resigned as a member of the Board of Directors of alternative asset manager Carlyle Group Management, effective 27 October, 2015.   Fishman had served as a board member since Carlyle’s initial public offering in May 2012. His  resignation is due to previously announced health issues. Following the deal, Barclays Natural Resource Investments (BNRI) is now Global Natural Resource Investments (GNRI) an independent, private equity firm, which will build on the existing management team’s strong expertise and proven track record in successfully managing natural resource investment opportunities globally over the last nine years.   Barclays will not be selling any of its existing investments as part of the acquisition. The Association of Investment Companies’ (AIC) sixth annual survey of venture capital trust (VCT) investment reveals that a total of 13,508 new jobs have been created at the SMEs surveyed since the beginning of the VCT investment scheme.  According to the survey – ‘Nurturing success, delivering growth: VCT investment 1995-2015’ – on average 51 jobs have been created per investee company since VCT investment. The appetite for venture capital investments has seen a growth in both the number of deals and aggregate value transacted between 2014 and 2015 YTD.
