American Capital has sold Mirion Technologies, a provider of radiation detection, measurement, analysis and monitoring products and services to the nuclear power, medical, military and homeland security markets to Charterhouse Capital Partners for USD750 million.
Mirion was created in December 2005 through the merger of portfolio companies synOdys, Global Dosimetry Solutions (GDS) and Imaging and Sensing Technology (IST). Following the merger, the three companies were realigned into the current five business segments: the Sensing Systems Division, the Imaging Systems Division, the Radiation Monitoring Systems Division, the Dosimetry Services Division and the Health Physics Division. ALPS, a DST Company that provides products and services to the financial services industry, is to acquire asset manager Red Rocks Capital, a leader in listed private equity and other private asset investments.
The purchase price of up to USD65 million will consist of a combination of up-front cash consideration and performance-related contingent consideration. The transaction will be funded using a combination of cash and short-term borrowings on revolving credit lines.
The closing of the transaction is expected to occur in the second half of 2015.

Over two-thirds (68%) of intermediaries believe the economic recovery has made smaller businesses an attractive investment opportunity, according to new research from Albion Ventures.
The research shows adviser optimism for smaller businesses is shared by their clients: almost a third (31%) of IFAs has reported an increased number of enquiries over the past year from clients looking for investment opportunities in smaller, entrepreneurial businesses and 37% said they had received more client interest in opportunities to invest in firms that are well placed to capitalise on the stronger performing UK economy.

Private equity firm Mansa Capital Management has completed an acquisition of Accreon, a Boston-based healthcare technology and services company that integrates and manages health information.
Mansa Capital invested USD5.5 million in Accreon along with the company’s new management team and original founders to finance the acquisition. Informatica Corporation, an independent provider of enterprise data integration software and services, is to be acquired by a company controlled by the Permira funds and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) for approximately USD5.3 billion.
Under the terms of the agreement, Informatica shareholders will receive $48.75 in cash for each share of Informatica common stock.
