Investment firm KKR has appointed Anand Sinha, former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), as an industry advisor to the firm, effective immediately. TIAA-CREF has launched Churchill Asset Management, a new majority-owned subsidiary focused on originating, underwriting and managing senior loan investments, primarily in US middle-market companies. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. Churchill adds to TIAA-CREF’s existing fixed income capabilities by expanding its private credit platform. Lion Capital is to acquire Spence Diamonds, a direct seller of custom-made engagement rings in Canada.  Lion Capital is partnering with IVEST Consumer Partners, a Vancouver-based retail investor and operator, who will bring seasoned operating executives George Jones and Jim Schneider to lead the business. IVEST will make a minority investment in Spence, as will current CEO Sean Jones, who will also remain on the board.
