Intercos has completed a round of financing led by Catterton, the US-based leading consumer-focused private equity firm, for a significant minority ownership in the company.
ClearVue Partners, who has a working relationship with Catterton, co-invested in the transaction.

Law firm Howard Kennedy is advising English Rose Enterprises, a company owned by Andrew Perloff and family, on its efforts to acquire Beales, the historic department store chain.
The acquisition is being made with the financial support of Portnard Limited, another Andrew Perloff family vehicle.
English Rose Enterprises has yesterday (19 January) announced its intention to make a cash offer of 6p per share, valuing the company at GBP1.23m. This is backed by the offer of financial support for Beales to the tune of up to GBP2m.
Beales, which can trace its history back to 1881 operates 30 department
Private equity firm SAIL Capital Partners Limited is expanded into the EMEA region with the establishment of a new London office and the appointment of Dr Eric Warner as Managing Director.
SAIL’s new London-based merchant banking operation will play a key role in developing the firm’s current portfolio and facilitating exits from its portfolio of 14 investments. In a newly formed partnership with global growth consultancy Frost & Sullivan (www.frost.com), SAIL’s London office will also be sourcing new investment opportunities in the EMEA region, focusing on sustainable innovation in energy and water.

McCabe has over 30 years’ experience in financial services and has held a number of senior investment management and corporate secretarial positions. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute and holds the IOD Diploma in Company Direction as well as a Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course. Notably McCabe was the first female President of the Securities and Investments Institute (Jersey Branch).

Ignorance surrounding crowdfunding, combined with huge public aversion to risk, is holding back investment in SMEs, according to research by P2P lender ArchOver.
Aillingness to invest increases significantly however, when such crowdfunded loans are protected by added security.
A key reason for public caution and risk aversion is that 61% of participants save mainly for future security, either for themselves, their children or future home improvements, rather than for luxuries such as a holiday or an expensive car (38%).

Jamieson Corporate Finance has advised the shareholders of Honest Burgers on the sale of a significant stake to Active Private Equity (Active).
Honest Burgers, the London-based premium burger restaurant, was founded by Dorian Waite, Tom Barton and Philip Eeles in 2011 in a market traditionally dominated by innovative independent restaurants. The Jamieson team, which consisted of Stuart Coventry, David Kirkpatrick and Jean Pierre Smith, advised the founders on the sale of a 50 per cent holding to Active.

Private equity firm Maven Capital Partners (Maven) has invested a further GBP2.2 million to support current investee company Crawford Scientific’s acquisition of Hall Analytical Laboratories (Hall).
Maven originally completed a GBP3.9 million investment in Crawford in August 2014 and from the outset pinpointed the provision of analytical services as a key element of Crawford’s long-term growth strategy. Hall and Crawford have a strong existing partnership and there is significant potential for Crawford to utilise its successful sales and marketing capabilities to develop and promote the Hall brand and offering.
