Elsen has closed a USD400,000 round of funding for its financial technology platform, which allows hedge funds to run financial models and algorithms faster and more efficiently. Elsen plans to use this capital to accelerate growth and add additional resources to its engineering team. Financing comes from individual investors and is led by local angel investor Bret Siarkowski and his AngelList syndicate, which is backed by Atlas Venture’s Boston Syndicates. Private investment firm Colony Capital has appointed Philippe M Costeletos as Principal and Chairman of International. Based in Colony’s London office, Costeletos, 49, will principally be responsible for identifying new investments outside of the United States, while also taking a significant role in the firm’s worldwide strategy and operations. He will report to Thomas J. Barrack Jr., Chairman of Colony Capital. Costeletos was a Partner at TPG Capital, where he served as head of TPG Capital in Europe. Harris Williams & Co has advised TA Associates on its acquisition of a majority interest in Access Technology Group (Access), a business management software company.  Harris Williams & Co is acting as the exclusive financial advisor to TA Associates. Preqin has launched its 2015 Preqin Global Alternatives Reports, revealing significant growth in assets held by private equity, hedge fund, private debt, real estate and infrastructure fund managers. Total industry assets now stand at USD6.91tn*, up from USD6.22tn as of this point last year. From their conversations with investors, Preqin believes the majority remain confident in the ability of alternative assets to help achieve portfolio objectives. Indeed, across all asset classes a much larger proportion of investors plan to increase their exposure rather than cut back their allocations to alternatives. Consumer finance technology group Kreditech Group has secured a USD200 million credit facility from Victory Park Capital, an asset management firm focused on middle market debt and equity investments based in the United States.  The investment reflects investors’ confidence in its big data credit-scoring technology and its data platform to serve the estimated 4.0 billion unbanked and underbanked individuals worldwide. Law firm Noerr has advised Augusta Technologie AG (Munich) on a squeeze-out under merger law. At an extraordinary general meeting of Augusta, the transfer of the shares of the minority shareholders to the main shareholder TKH Technologie Deutschland AG was approved with reasonable cash compensation. The squeeze-out and the merger of Augusta into TKH will become effective on entry in the Commercial Register. Noerr’s team was led by Dr Michael Brellochs and Dr Tobias Bürgers. The law firm acted for Augusta regularly in recent years and advised the company throughout the entire takeover process by the TKH Group in 2012.

Guernsey has more non-UK entities listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) than any other jurisdiction globally, according to new figures from the market authority. LSE data shows that at the end of December 2014 there were 122 Guernsey-incorporated entities listed on the Main Market, the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) and the Specialist Fund Market (SFM). This is significantly more non-UK entities than any other jurisdiction, with Guernsey trailed by Jersey (92), Isle of Man (54), Ireland (53), Cayman (50), BVI (44), Bermuda (41), Russia (33), US (32) and India (31).   Guernsey added 13 new entities to the LSE
Evercore has appointed Steven C Todrys as a Senior Advisor in the firm’s investment banking business with a focus on transactional tax and structuring solutions.  He will be based in Evercore’s office in New York. Todrys was most recently a partner at the law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where he had served as the head of the firm’s tax practice. The Osprey group consists of Osprey Military, Heritage and Custom Publishing, and British Wildlife Press.
